  1. They need to cross south of I-78 for this to work
  2. there is a cause and effect relationship which all mainstream scientific institutions acknowledge and recognize.
  3. thats YOUR experience, meanwhile other parts of the country are having much more rapid changes than what you are having. Your area is less sensitive to the effects of climate change than my area is and what other parts of the country have.
  4. and again the current trend has nothing to do with enso, it's happening regardless of the state of enso.
  5. You're going to have much slower changes than what we are having, and that's what the climate models have calculated. Living closer to the ocean determines how massive the changes are that will impact you, both in terms of temperature and rainfall.
  6. again random isolated seasons don't mean anything when you look at the long term, and what we are seeing is a massive change over the long term.
  7. It's embarrassingly obvious at this point with how much things have changed over the last few decades; it isn't just about this year, it's about every year now. My allergies have gotten much worse since the growing season got months longer and our rainfall totals have increased by at least 50%. So using some random year in the 1930s as a counterpoint doesn't really mean anything. It's having major societal and health impacts.
  8. The climate has changed at least a few orders of magnitude here over the last 3 decades, pointing out one random year in the 30s doesn't mean anything when every year it's getting progressively worse, the growing season is longer, the rainfall totals are higher and my allergies are worse. It's as bad as saying the earth is flat, dude.
  9. Yes..... I have allergic attacks when my heat runs now.
  10. what was its score Don? and it's interesting that was near the beginning of the record, Is there any way to project if even earlier winters may have been better for example, there was a winter during the Civil War when NYC and PHL were projected to have received 100" of snow.
  11. thanks that's really needed here. It's been raining heavily since 2 am
  12. and warmer mins, like our summers now no wonder I have all these allergies
  13. the budding on my trees pretty much proves it. the daffodils also seem to want to come out lol
  14. you need to wait for the shorter wavelengths later in the season for this to work for us, dont you
  15. that's a really pretty scene in Fantasy 1 question for you Don.... when was the last time we saw snow dust (you know what I'm talking about-- the kind of fine crystalline snow dust that sparkles in the air even under clear skies?) Was February 2015 the last time that happened in the city or long island or anywhere nearby?
  16. and that season started off so cold we thought it would be a historic winter
  17. I'm pretty sure I am having really bad allergic attacks from the mold, mildew, whatever is roaming around in the air. And I'm not the only one, I called some friends and my sister and 3 out of 4 of them have been having bad headaches the last few days.
  18. February 1934 must have been one huge shock to the system, the greatest wintry month in the entire history of the region.
  19. anyone have any idea why the arctic air always seems to go on the other side of the globe? is it because Eurasia is a much larger land mass?
  20. Yes 1/20 is usually the point of inflection. I guess we could extend it to the end of January in terms of seeing something, but by then it really becomes a repeat of last winter.
  21. that makes it even more amazing that February 1934 may have been the greatest wintry month in the city's history.
  22. I just want it not to rain or to be cloudy. Starting next weekend looks like it should be good for that.
  23. I'm seriously thinking of bleaching my garage roof and everywhere else this ugly moss/mold/fungus growth is occurring. If you have any 2 week period of sunny weather coming, send it here, otherwise please invent a weather modification device to make it happen, Don.
