3-4 inches per hour is the juiced up STJ doing its work, we see these in stronger el ninos and la ninas that come right after stronger el ninos. Hopefully we see more of these going forward this season (and maybe next season too, since la ninas after el ninos are very snowy.)- 3,610 replies

wow 12-18 right near the Delaware Water Gap, along I-80 from there to the Poconos exits near and beyond I-81. and snow has redeveloped in NE PA so more could accumulate.- 3,610 replies

Nice, there could be an 18" report somewhere out of NW NJ by the time the storm ends. Basically from NE PA through NW NJ to the Hudson Valley got 12-18" with 3-4 inches per hour rates for 2-3 hours!- 3,610 replies

3" per hour widespread from NE PA to your area. It's going to be interesting to see how large the 10" foot print with this storm is-- I've also seen reports of 10-12" coming from NW NJ.- 3,610 replies

Did you get 4 inches an hour for 2 hours?! That's absolutely amazing. In the Southern Poconos, it was 3 inches an hour and a foot or so of snow.

Was the storm just too close to the coast? We needed a NE wind-- and for that the center of low pressure would have needed to be due south of Montauk when it was due east of Atlantic City right?- 3,610 replies

in the southern Poconos just north of you, it was around a foot of snow from Albrightsville up to Blakeslee. It was snowing 3 inches per hour at Bear Creek.- 3,610 replies

I wouldn't say 97-98 was a failed el nino, it was way too much of an el nino.
