  1. I really don't like that building 432 lol. It should be called 666 ;-) We never should have built those things they ruined the NYC skyline. How do those supertall buildings hold up when we have an earthquake (like we had last April) or a hurricane, I wonder?
  2. We're already in a heavier than normal rainfall regime unfortunately. A light drought/D1 doesn't really matter around here. I don't see it as a concern, we get plenty of rain as it is. Our area does not need more than 40 inches of rain here. The West needs rain MUCH more than we do. If the argument is about fires, we really need to get rid of the excess greenery.
  3. Let's see how long this lasts. I was supposed to go there Saturday morning.
  4. I wonder if it's higher than that horrendous rectangular eyesore they built in Manhattan that looks like a giant middle finger? What is that monstrosity called-- something Park Avenue I think?
  5. dry heat does not produce *swamp ass*
  6. Yes spring is a completely useless season. I loved the 80s and 90s because we usually went straight from winter to summer.
  7. I have dim memories of this, low 40s and sleet? That entire weekend was horrendous! a T of frozen at LGA I think?
  8. lol how much to own it or rent it??
  9. Don where is all this cold coming from with such a positive AO and most of the country being so warm?
  10. Updated to 6 gone, the pilot and 5 members of the same family (both parents and three children). Awful Awful news.
  11. I've always wanted to see it, how far is that hill from where you live?
  12. Yes it was updated to 6 perished, the 6th one was the pilot. 5 are all from one family, both parents and 3 children :-'(
  13. Big helicopter crash in the Hudson, 6 fatalities reported!
  14. I remember seeing these going back to my elementary school days -- it always made sense that it's colder as you go up in elevation. I didn't know anything about inversions back then lol. I think I learned inversions when our family bought a house in the mountains back when I was in middle school and then I found out that it's often colder in the valleys than it is on the mountain tops.
  15. yeah this is why I like a direct winter to summer transition like what we usually get in winters that produce. I find that winters that have very little snowfall have cold weather dragging on into spring, where it doesn't belong. Since we didn't get a -nao in winter we're getting it now.
  16. and around here April has been colder than March in 2020 May was snowier than most of our winter months lol
  17. He's just lazy and doesn't bother to measure it until 7 am =\
  18. I don't trust any of these models, even today is mostly sunny.
  19. 1894 - A heavy late season snow blanketed parts of the northeastern U.S. Heavier snowfall totals included 31.5 inches at Salem Corners PA, 30 inches at LeRoy NY, 26 inches at York PA, 14 inches at Waterbury CT, and 9 inches at Providence RI. (The Weather Channel) anything from this in NYC Tony? 9 inches at Providence should mean at least a few inches here.
  20. we really don't need any more rain for a month. I'm sure we will have a few more dry months, especially during the summer. This is around the time it's supposed to rain.
  21. so this +nao in winter and -nao in spring is actually a thing lol
  22. we have more of these coming up? whatever happened to that se ridge that's supposed to be a permanent presence in our region?
  23. Yes this has been the case at NYC more than a few times too. I've even seen the straight 10:1 ratio applied and we can't really tell if the ratio was applied to calculate the snowfall total or it actually was a 10:1 ratio (I'm suspicious of the perfect 10.0, 6.0 and 1.0 amounts I mentioned earlier.)
  24. Nice, at Central Park this would have been recorded as 1.0 lol
