  1. This was the start of the historic 2002 heatwave, one of my all time favorite April memories! 12 years after that, JFK's latest freezing temperature on record! Also, it's times like this that I wish for data going further back for NYC, I wonder if NYC got any snow in this 1849 snowstorm? Records: Highs: EWR: 92 (2002) NYC: 92 (2002) LGA: 89 (2002) JFK: 86 (2003) Lows: EWR: 26 (1943) NYC: 29 (1928) LGA: 31 (1943) JFK: 32 (2014) Historical: 1849: Charleston, South Carolina recorded their latest freeze ever with a temperature of 32 degrees while 6 inches of snow fell at Wilmington, North Carolina. Snow fell as far south as Milledgeville, Georgia. A damaging hard freeze occurred from Texas to Georgia devastating the cotton crop.
  2. lol I see you've joined the wanting dry/warm weather train.
  3. That's very interesting. I have seen this before and it causes a lot of tree damage where the winds are strong. Well, it's windy today (around 40 mph).
  4. cool April will come to an end beginning this weekend.
  5. Central Park temps during the summer are definitely too low because of bad siting. They are also very low with wind speeds for the same reason, they are blocked by foliage. Even here, right by the ocean we often beat them in summer high temps.
  6. storm tracks depend on whats going on upstream though, none of these storms was even close to being a snowstorm here lol
  7. That storm ran quickly up the coast, this one was a slow moving typical spring cut off low that you won't ever see during the winter.
  8. This was not any kind of advisory event. We had like 2 hours of occasionally gusty winds and they died down before sunset. I think the winds gusted like once every 10 minutes for 2 hours. Not even 50 mph here, maybe 40, but even that's pushing it.
  9. Okay the wind is finally here, but it's after we already reached our high (71) for the day.
  10. Yes my dream of building a giant transparent wind wall has been fulfilled! Now we just need one to keep the sea breeze away.....
  11. the sun is finally starting to come out here, but no wind at all so far.
  12. The only really nice day looks to be Thursday. It's still raining here lol Forecast bust, the forecast was for the rain to clear the area before sunrise.
  13. that 83 degree we had back at the end of March was the best day for me
  14. it would be even more wild if the front stalled right there....
  15. right after the windiest winter on record? I know you said it's because of all these cutters, but why is it when we had cutter patterns in the past (and we've had a lot of them), it was never windy like it is now?
  16. thats great, at least no more chilly weather, hopefully that cold shot midweek is the last one for the season.
  17. Sunday's the better day with a full day of sunshine. Thursday and Friday also better with sunshine. Looks like next week will be mostly sunny too, finally.
  18. Sunny for the past hour and just hit 68 degrees
  19. Yeah but not sunny, that's my main problem with this pattern.
  20. Yes the sun was out for 2 hours but cloudy again now. Was up to 67 here
  21. Wow we had a 7 inch total in our area? It would be interesting to see what the highest totals in the Poconos were.
  22. if we don't get a lot of sun for the remainder of the month, we could see April wind up below normal. That would make 4 out of the last 5 months below normal (with the obvious glaring exception of March.) I wonder when the last time was that we had 4 out of 5 months with below normal temperatures..... 2013-14 or 2014-15?
  23. this is the time of year when we want the se ridge to block off all these useless clouds
