  1. Nobody out there claims that the sea shores will be under water in the next 20 years. The timeline for mass coastal inundation starts around 2100. Before then, coastal areas will cede land to the sea, but mainly in already vulnerable areas. You ever been to Martha’s Vineyard where Obama bought his house? Many areas have massive dunes and hills, it’s not really a low lying island. Same as California. It’s not like they bought property on Key Largo. Further,The imminent danger may not exist for everyone’s backyard today, but the imminent danger will come at different times for everyone. In the Pacific Ocean it’s already happening, in some areas it may be invasion of diseases carrying insects. The idea that a liberal buying a house on a beach disproves or sheds doubt on climate change is absurd.
  2. very few doubt global warming now. The new line is "We can't do anything about it anyway" or "we dont know what is really causing it". The younger generations are very tuned in to environmental issues, as they should, as they will be inheriting the world from us.
  3. @bdgwx and @donsutherland1 crushing this thread. Keep it up! Well written and informed posts. Thank you both.
  4. You may have mixed up your posters pal. I never mentioned landfall. Maybe it’s time for a nap?
  5. Remember when you accused me of being a dick? Might want to check yourself.
  6. I wonder where the weather channel buys their outdoor gear. They have the lightest weight material that flaps in the lightest breeze. Mike Seidel was literally standing in the ocean in a 18 mph breeze and he made it look like he was in a real storm.
  7. Disconnected from what people are dealing with? So there isn’t massive flooding and destruction? a lot of snowflakes on these boards today wow.
  8. Agree. I would move my family out of harms way even if a cat 1 was bearing down. No need to be without power or deal with a tree thru my roof
  9. I see your point. What gets me is everyone referring to him as "josh" like they are his friends. Some may be i guess, but its still a bit weird. I think riding out storms is important, so people can see what happens if you dont leave, so i think what he does is important.
  10. Here it is. Screenshot from NWS summary of storm. 142 gust near Naples airport. So yes he had gusts around 140. Thanks.
  11. I never said sustained. Naples airport reported a gust to 141 mph I believe and he lives nearby
  12. New Houses aren’t built out of wood in Florida or the Bahamas. Strict building codes. Maybe where you live in Southern Ohio houses are made out of glue, but down there new construction is rock solid.
  13. Videos from the well off people appear to be from Freeport area, where wind gusts likely 120-130 range, which would destroy a wooden house, but won’t do too much damage to a newly built concrete house. These people likely know their house can withstand cat 3 winds and stayed, probably to ward off looting. My fathers house near Naples was hit with 140 winds in Irma and sustained minor roof damage and lost his linai. He could have stayed and been fine, but no power or water for weeks... New construction is solid.
  14. Getting bored of this storm. Ready for some blizzards up this way now.
  15. Mike Seidel seen stretching his hamstrings to get ready for the severe winds. Also learning which way to lean to remain standing.
  16. Bust! Pretty incredible how poor mid range TC modeling is in 2019. From a Miami hit to out to sea in 2 days.
  17. And 4 in the past 3 years...since i moved to my house in Suffolk in April 2015 we have had 4 blizzards, at least one every year, and 2 in 2018...just ridiculous out here.
  18. Lol. Went from November to Remember to 3rd week of December looks good. Some people never learn.
  19. Lithium gets old, repeats same songs. 94.3 the SHARK is pretty good out here, and 90.7 WFUV is a city station which is good for alternative music. I only like the Adam Sandler Hannukah song. Seeing Dark Star Orchestra at the Paramount in Huntington Sat night, love that venue.
  20. Likewise sir. Had some laughs. How bout those little kittens we saw?
