    I’d like to see more run to run continuity from the EURO before going big Also, have we ever had 600+ dm heights at 500 over New England historically? Maybe 1911 was close?

    GFS is very impressive this run too .. long duration heat

    high end heat potential day 9/10 on the 0z EURO would like to see this within D7 on modeling to feel more confident

    Absolutely - The current pattern has been difficult to shake .. just when it looked like it was turning, we had another ill timed -NAO / +PNA episode. I'll say though if we get the typical strong Niño to strong La Niña transition summer pattern, good chance July / AUG roast and we make a run for the hottest summer of all time.

    Anecdotally it seems there has been an unusual amount of variability even in the D5-D7 range lately

    Agreed, next 2 weeks is back and forth and final week of the month is more sustained warmth

    not sure .. I'd argue the end of May looks warm and the only thing holding it back from potentially our first taste of HHH is the tendency for west based -NAO.
