Yeah
Were you there in November 2002?

Slicker ‘n’ owl snot up here in Mossy Grove.
Is that your area?

Back to sleet. Sleet when it's heavier, drizzle/freezing rain when it lightens up.
Looks like it’s up to you and maybe a couple others if we are going to see a little something. No pressure or anything

MRX backing out on the snow…

Moderate freezing rain, like a dense mist. Temps "shot" up to 33 for a few minutes but back to 31°

I’m at 30.3 an average of several stations around me.

Snow just started here.
You might get a surprise

Meandered my way back to the Oak Ridge Kroger. Light sleet and freezing rain mix.
Yuck

I made it to 30. Not at all surprised this happened. Anyone who has lived in the valley for any period of time could see this coming.

I've just blew through my predicted low. My zone forecast says 15, my point forecast says 13. It's down to 9 degrees already.
I’m at 8 degrees right now. I’m afraid we got issues tomorrow unless WAA kicks in.

Well we have already busted the low temp forecasted for the morning in N Knox Co. If WAA doesn’t kick in, we will push towards zero.

So much for me loving this weather. Last two nights I’ve been at a Knoxville HS keeping the boilers on. I can’t let the domestic water freeze and bust but high natural gas demand is sending my units into flame failure. I’m one of a couple guys who work on this equipment so I have to be here but I’ve got a 9 year old and wife at home who’s recovering from a double mastectomy surgery because of breast cancer. Trying to get to some of these schools is not easy.

Likely evening. Exact time would be hard to guess, but probably not earlier than 5 PM and probably no later than 8PM for that start time.
I agree with this going by the mods but sometimes these clippers move faster than modeled.

My thing is, I think we can easily stay below freezing at the surface, but we still get rain. It will just be freezing rain. A little warm air up high is not impacted by the ground. Maybe best case, there is lower level cold that keeps it sleet or something?
I don't know. Just worried about the impacts of this rain on 9 inches of snow. I would love snow instead!
I completely agree with you. I guess I should have expressed my concern is that this could be much worse than 8” of snow. It’s been so cold that the ambient temperature may need to get above 35 for the rain to not freeze on contact

I'm expecting to get near zero again tonight, I know they are expecting SW winds to advect warm air, but SW of me for about 200 miles is snow pack all the way to Huntsville Alabama. I'm sure that distance of snow pack will have an impact on the temperature here all the way to Knox County and beyond.
I don’t see areas with 6-8” of snow on the ground warming 30 degrees or more tomorrow. This system isn’t that strong and it’s not a wrapped up cutter with strong advection.

I will not at all be surprised if parts of the valley stays below freezing all day tomorrow. As soon as WAA starts there will be a strong temp inversion and low level clouds will build. With the snow pack, as soon as the clouds build in those surface temps will be locked in. I also have a concern about freezing fog.

I left Central High and now I’m at Gibbs Middle. Back roads are trash. The top layer has melted a little and it’s like someone put baby oil on top of the snow.

I am in Halls off Neal Rd and just watched 2 cars and a truck try to go up the hill to leave the neighborhood. They were all unsuccessful and another neighbor had to pull them up the hill. I shoveled some earlier and had a coating of ice on my driveway under the snow.
I live in Hallbrook, the new section in the back of the subdivision.

A fire truck flipped over an hour ago on Emory at Beeler.

If there is ever a set-up for severe, the look is there.
The twitter Mets are talking about it. Reed was talking about it this morning

The snow covered roads in Knoxville are terrible now, worse than yesterday. That top layer has tried to melt and it’s like driving on baby oil.

I don’t see how schools are going to go back at all this week. I work for Knox Co school, HVAC department and I’ve been out a lot. I’m at Central High now. Back roads are like concrete. School parking lots are the same. Was at Fulton last night. My jeep will go anywhere but getting into Fulton was an adventure. Lol.
