  1. Well I mowed my yard for the first time this year.  Truly remarkable how green it is.  Sadly it appears the cold damaged & maybe even killed some of my shrubs that I just planted. Sigh.  Today was absolutely picture perfect.

    What kind of shrubs?

  2. 2-07-80 8 inches of snow from 2-6 to 2-8.  But it was the middle of a long/snowy stretch with quite a few below 0 lows and 17 straight days with snow on the ground here.
2-28-65, mild with highs in the 60s.
2-09-53 mild. Highs in the 50s
2-07-68 40s but went into the deep freeze the next day. Dry deep freeze.
    2-09-04 slightlybn, 40s./20s
2-11-77 climbed out of the deep freeze to near 60.
    2-16-78 chilly, 30s/20s, 2 inches of snow
2-09-70 a few bn days in a row. But 3 or 4 degrees bn
2-06-86 near 70 degree highs. We did get a huge Valentines day snow storm with 10 inches in 86.
2-07-06 a couple days around -5bn but dry.

I remember the Valentines snow in 86, I was in middle school. Help me out here… was that sorta of a surprise for people north of 40 in Knox Co? Maybe I’m getting that part confused but I remember doing Valentines Day stuff in school and it starts snowing chicken feathers. My dad had the only 4x4 in my subdivision and he made several trips to and from picking up kids and getting them home. (How I would love to go back to a time when no one worried about a kid getting kidnapped or abused if you sent them home with a parent of another student ). So in my middle school years I remember two major snow events. The V Day storm and one that happened maybe in April? One of these storms was a surprise because we all got stuck at school. I remember watching the weather later that night and they showed South Knoxville with only rain while Powell/Halls had 6-10”.

  3. I was very frustrated watching the game, and not just because I am a Tennessee fan.  The amount of aggression they allowed SC in the second half while calling numerous touch fouls on us early changed the complexion of the game, IMO.  I will say even with that against them if TN simply hits layups and FT's, they win by 10.  Their D was good enough to win that game 99 out of 100 times.  TN has shooters.  It's inconceivable to me they shoot that poorly from 3 in their home gym.

I have a concern but there’s good and bad with it. I’m afraid we are standing around waiting on DK to take over the game. This started during the Florida game weeks ago. He scored 20 pts in the last 7 min of the first half. Ever since then, we just stand around and wait on him to do his thing. It’s amazing he can still do that considering it’s 1 on 5 on the offensive side.

So the good thing is at least it’s happening now instead of at the end of the year. This is fixable and there’s plenty of time to fix it.

  4. South Carolina played dirty, but UT needs to play through that. Oh I have my own problems. Kansas may look invincible at home, but can't win against Q3 on the road.

As for the NCAA I've long called it Nazi Commies Against Athletes. It's corrupt, power hungry, greedy, and doesn't want to share with the athletes.

I wouldn’t say SC played dirty but I understand what you are talking about. They took advantage of what the refs allowed them to do. The post guy would make room with his elbow by beating it against our chest and when we stood our ground, we got called for the foul. I can’t blame SC for doing that when the refs let them.

  5. The 2m temps still looked warm, especially the gefs. Hopefully that changes. John homenuk still seems interested lol

A lot of the Twitter Mets that matter believe this is coming. Let’s not forget that the mods didn’t get on board with the last cold until about 3 weeks out

  6. Some of the great winter patterns of E TN are mid-Feb to mid-March.  Got to know when to hold'em, know when to fold'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.   I am somewhere between hold'em and run!  LOL.  Anyway, storm track looks like a classic Nino end game.  No idea if it verifies, but it could certainly be worse.

This is probably captain obvious but I’ll be shocked if that doesn’t verify at or above 2k feet.

  7. I was not at all downing DT.  He is a good forecaster but just like in this forum. We are told to take it with any LR with a grain of salt.  DT makes it sound like it’s a done deal.  Which he does a lot of his forecasting to get clicks & make $.  Just like Bastardi. I don’t ever go with any LR forecasting on temps or precip.  Chances are it will always be closer to averages for both.

I wasn’t pointing that at you but reading it again I see why you might have thought that. Sorry

  8. Aa far as believing, not that I do but, no different than believing 70 degrees that far out or posting something regarding a mild rainstorm. Are you criticising any of that ? As far as DT, I'm not a fan of him personally ( attitude problem) but, he is still overall a good Meteorologist.

    Yep…
Some people: 220 hours out and 70 degrees = *cancel winter*

Same people: 220 hours out and snow = *no way that’s happening*.
