    Great sunrise today! Anyone else catch it? If I wasn’t running late to work I would have pulled over somewhere for a better picture... you know what they say about red sky at sunrise... .

    Not as good as the MODIS view but if you jive them all up it’s pretty close. Lot of open water still but the clock is ticking! .

    Look at the precip blooming way out ahead over the finger flakes already! Might be snowing in SYR in the next hour... Also NE flow of Ontario into Niagara and Orleans is very well defined already... .

    Still have blizzard warnings. This system really isn’t a good setup for a Midwest blizzard. Usually those lows swing up the plains and bomb out around Minnesota or the Dakotas. Those winds have no ground interference and can really blow some snow around. .

    Funny the FV3 was showing this extreme cold setup for us DAYS ago... and everyone wrote it off... Now we have support from the euro... If FV3 verifies this weekend it earns some major street credit in my eyes... .

    So what I miss? lol! Just got done with a 13 hour shift... All I will say is the local mets did a fine job scaring the bejesus out of the general public for this storm... The market was just straight up silly today... Haven’t seen panic shopping to this level in several years...

    Just gonna leave this here... That’s only through 240 hours. Shows 3 more synoptic and 3 more lake events after hour 240. This weekends event will be the kickoff to our winter finally getting started! .

    Need to find a webcam of this place! 30”+ in 12 hours with winds gusting to 140mph. I can’t even imagine what that would look like... .

    Blizzard Watches are no more! They were lumped into the Winter Storm Watch product with the hazard simplification program last year. .

    That would be a fitting send off to our lake effect season if it was to verify. Lake will be down to 32 and starting to freeze by end of next week. Hopefully she can make it that long! Between the synoptic systems and the lake effect potential along with the sustained cold temps we could be looking at a snow pack area wide we haven’t seen around here for quite some years. .

    This year no lock ins on a SW flow. All quick hits and swinging bands. Like 3” tops each hit.

    I hope she stays open so we can get at least one lake storm this year. Sure a half dozen synoptic events in 2 weeks are great but just not the same as a good old lake dumping!
