  1. That's just the placement of the jackpot...in 2006 it was Montgomery and Frederick Counties...in 2011 it was the Susquehanna River Valley in PA. Next time, it could be Cumberland. These big atmospheric river events have subtle jackpot zones in the them where you see hilarious totals, but 10 miles on either side it's more benign.
  2. We are wedged in with cooler air...updrafts can't sustain themselves. Terrain to the west and and the more unstable air to the east over Delmarva are where the best action is going to occur. That stuff to the SW of CHO isn't going to make it up here as anything more than drizzle or light rain unless we get some clearing to warm things up.
  3. Doubt we even get 1 major hurricane this year in the whole basin. Cold waters, shear and prolific SAL.
  4. Appears to be subtle little boundaries all across the area. As storm move across them, there is a propensity to spin...areas south and east of I-95 have destabilized more, as evident with temps closer to 90 degrees. This would lead me to believe the tornado risk, if any, is higher across Virginia, Southern Maryland and Delmarva.

  6. Interesting cell near Westminster.
  7. Should be in range of the DCA and ADW terminal Dopplers soon.
  8. Still legit circulation...last frame it's looking to maybe spin back up a bit.
  9. Guidance looks bone dry through the end of the week...maybe some locations get lucky but this is looking like a bust.
  10. Everybody wringing their hands because antecedent conditions are "wet". It's the height of summer and we had a week between events. This is a total snooze fest.
  11. Horrible day at the beaches...Delmarva is winning in the rain department.
  12. Oh look, another chance fizzles out.
  13. Rt. 27 corridor in Maryland from Germantown to the Mason-Dixon line is about to get a good soaking...now that's some training. Winds have shifted out of the east here in Reisterstown...I wonder if there's a subtle boundary or bay breeze that firing the storms off of Parr's Ridge? @wxmeddler would probably know more.
  14. The activity is probably terrain induced too. Flood Warning issues just now it looks like.
  15. Now that's a legitimate flash flood risk west of I-81 in Gore, VA developing. Wouldn't surprise me to see a FFW issued.
  16. Northern Baltimore County through Selinsgrove, PA is the winner. Some unreal flooding ongoing in PA right now.
  17. Next week looks o have a lot more potential for widespread activity compared to this week. Might even be thread worthy.
