    Today! Fall! Arrived!!! YESSSSSSSS.

    According to Horst...notsofast.

Last Thursday I speculated that a pattern change might bring the arrival of a persistently cooler weather beginning around October 1st. Today, I'm putting that pattern change on hold for at least another week or so. Why? A massive blocking pattern has since developed in the eastern Pacific and ridging in the western Atlantic now looks to hold on into the opening days of October. The bottom line: It may take until October 7 - 14th for the pattern change to fully reach the Eastern US.

What we miss on is the exciting rains and events. Since the rainy season started on July 21st. many areas have had out and out deluges. We, on the other hand, were mostly on the moderate side. Duration, and not intensity is what got my location to where it is.

I'd rather an intense deluge than a long, drawn out, dismal event.

No I understand what your intent was and I couldn't pass up the opening you gave me to throw a little dig at you. How are you feeling?

Speaking of drawn out dismal, I wonder if the fog/mist will ever leave?...

He may be.  Looking at overnight blend and early am suggest a slightly more southerly track as only GEPS has come slightly north.  Surely not out of the woods but precip max is well south of our area and remains similar from yesterday.  The unfortunate part is that this really wants to just hang out until a frontal boundary looks to push it east mid next week.  So while we may further pad totals, the long duration should help to keep from major flooding concerns being realized IMO.

Fortunately for us, it does look less likely we see significant impacts up here. Unfortunately, our win is gonna be someone else's loss...

  4. Company picnic today at Hersheypark...yeah, not so nice for an amusement park day. Remarkably, I think everyone who was there parked in the closest lot adjacent to the old arena. There were very, very few people milling about.

Susquehanna is supposed to reach 46' in Marietta by late Tuesday before leveling off. At that stage the LSV will be vulnerable to river flooding if Flo does pay us a visit.

I'm all rained out!  Send it north, south, east, or west. We have had so much rain this year, it almost feels abnormal when it's not raining. I'm ready for our first frost and freeze.

This!!! Enough already. Here's hoping Flo is one giant no-show. I feel sick for all the people around here that have lost so much from flooding this summer. Give them a break, please...

Hey, all. This is "blackrock" whose hometown is Lancaster. Well, it is official....I have made the move from Michigan to Redfield, NY on the Tug. Much closer to family in PA again...so will be joining you guys during my travels home in the time to come. Looking forward to 300" snowfall winters!

That is awesome! Don't be too upset this winter when the LSV gets hit with a 30" blizzard. We'll send some cirrus up your way. :)

In all seriousness though, way to go for living out your dream. Can't wait to see and read your stories...

    Just saw this. Thanks! :)

As for Florence, I'd think her high latitude is going to make things interesting. She's way north (23.4n vs <20n) of where she should be to be a legitimate threat. But if there's one thing we learned this past year or so is that what should happen (re-curve and a fish storm) may not be the actual end result. Still a long way out, but the WAR has been a major player this spring and summer, and she could just keep heading toward the coast under the right conditions.

My very best wishes go out to you!
