Hersheypark closes for the entire day during midsummer...don't see that happen often.
-
5" of rain and I'm not even close to having the highest totals in our area. Someone is getting double digit totals before this all moves out.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Susquehanna...it was at an extremely low level before Saturday. I cannot ever recall the river reaching flood stage during the summer months without a tropical storm. Not saying by any means it will reach flood stage but the latest forecast has it at the caution stage in Marietta by late Wednesday/Thursday and still on the rise...

Next round is rapidly advancing northward through the BWI/DC corridor...this batch has a laser beam pointing at the south central mountains west of my location.

Yesterday and last night delivered the goods. Nearly 3" fell since 4:00pm yesterday, now at 4.8" for the "event."
Rain woke me up around 2:00am...checked radar and my first thought was that it looked eerily similar to Lee.

Picked up a quick half inch in Tamaqua. I wonder where that cluster in Maryland is headed?
Was just gonna post...it's headed right at me. Just finished the 2nd cell of the day and that next cluster looks to deliver the goods.

Shower produced just shy of a quarter inch about an hour ago, full sun now.
-
Finished with 1.8" yesterday. As I said early yesterday...congrats South Mountain.

Check out the radar - it is just like that 2016 winter storm. Cutoff in Steelton basically,
Yep, big doughnut hole over Lanco. Glad it isn't January!

Raining harder now than anytime since it began this morning.
Interesting...rain has stopped here. Not slowed...stopped.

Already over 1.25”. I think MDT gets 5.5”+.
This looks like that Jan 2016 NAM storm.
YES!!! It really does. I was going to say that in my response to Voyager but I didn't want to bring up old wounds.

So the Susquehanna and point west jackpot? Nothing new here...
Same old same old when it comes to BIG rain events it seems.
Eh...I'm not losing a whole lot of sleep if I get 2" of rain while someone else gets 6". I don't need or want water problems in my basement.
On the other hand, i agree with what you're saying completely. No matter the season it seems, "big" weather events have eluded the coal region for quite a few years.

No thanks
Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm sure there will be surprises over the next week.

Short-term models focusing the heaviest rains over South Mountain and areas along the 81 corridor west of Harrisburg. Some areas approach a half foot of rain...and that is just for today into tomorrow morning.

This front can't get here soon enough. Dear god is it a steam bath today.

Honestly, i like it. I also like Big Snow storms, quiet walks on the beach, thunder storms, ice cold beer, colorful fall days with a scent of smoke from my chimney
I must really be getting soft. I left work yesterday and my first thought was "this isn't too bad." I got in my car and discovered it was 95 out.
It's funny how last week conditioned me to the heat. At least it seems like it.

I hope everyone enjoyes the little cooldown this weekend because starting middle of next week it looks like perhaps no end in sight of +4-6 degrees above normal temps for the rest of July and perhaps through most of August.
Well...I don't have any information to support this, but I think some of our hot summers have been followed by a snowy winter. Someone can correct me on that if I'm off my rocker again.

We both need to go crawl into a cave and reemerge in about 4 months.

Gonna be a long July though. Heat and dry look locked in.
Sure does. We pay for the delayed onslaught.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought about you since this mess got started. I might have even cussed you out under my breath...:)

It’s legit hot today. 96 / 65
"Only" reached 95 here...currently at 94.2 disgusting degrees. My only solace is that the days are getting shorter.

Very...quite a large area had 10"-15" amounts, and if memory serves me correctly the ground was already saturated.
