  1. I must really be getting soft. I left work yesterday and my first thought was "this isn't too bad." I got in my car and discovered it was 95 out. It's funny how last week conditioned me to the heat. At least it seems like it.
  2. Well...I don't have any information to support this, but I think some of our hot summers have been followed by a snowy winter. Someone can correct me on that if I'm off my rocker again.
  3. We both need to go crawl into a cave and reemerge in about 4 months.
  4. Sure does. We pay for the delayed onslaught.
  5. I can't tell you how many times I've thought about you since this mess got started. I might have even cussed you out under my breath...:)
  6. "Only" reached 95 here...currently at 94.2 disgusting degrees. My only solace is that the days are getting shorter.
  7. I am NOT any sort of expert on severe weather, but there were some radar images last evening where it looked evident of a signature hook on the southwest flank of the storm up there. My uneducated thought looking at the radar was "my God, that sure looks like a tornado." Horst thinking it looks like about an EF2.
  8. I did...Saturday was the day that we typically arrive for our week's vacation. This year I happened to move it back 2 weeks to the last full week of June. That would have been miserable to unload everything in on Saturday.
  9. Most depressing park I was ever at was the old Cleveland Stadium. Back about 35 years ago i saw a Saturday afternoon game, it was a perfect weather day. Much like it is here today. The announced crowd was 6 thousand and something. Problem was...that stadium had 80,000 seats. So it was me, a friend of mine, and a few other baseball fans sitting in the midst of nearly 74,000 empty seats. We had short concession lines! I don't need any boomers, and i don't need any rain anytime soon. Ground is saturated and grass is growing like it's early April.
  10. Perfect morning indeed. I had 50 on the nose. By the way, I responded to your Chris Davis assessment in the Sox thread. He is truly god forsaken awful.
  11. Aww man...that is my kind of trip! I've been to Wrigley several times dating back to the mid 80s, before they installed lights and and the neighborhood area got built up beyond Waveland Avenue. The ball seemed to carry so much better back then. First game I saw the Cubbies put up 12 and lost. Ryne Sandberg was 2-2 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs and that was through 2 innings. I've been to 17 present and former MLB parks and I still rank Wrigley #1 ever so slightly over PNC Park. The caveat is that newer parks like PNC are much cleaner with far more fan friendly amenities, but nothing says baseball more than Wrigley and Fenway. They are gems that must be experienced. And has a die-hard (and I'm dying REALLY hard this year) O's fan, I cannot tell you how much I miss Memorial Stadium. I am not a fan of Fenway South... I received nearly 2" of rain yesterday and last night. It can stop now.
  12. 2.4" for me...most of that came between 8:30 and 9:30 Saturday evening.
  13. And more rain should filter into the area from the south later on.
  14. Come to Lancaster county...many areas around Lancaster city have received upwards of 6" of rain and it is still dumping. Flood emergencies in effect for the 2nd night in a row. Funny, your area was forecast to get hit, ours was not. I'll gladly trade places with you. This is not welcome...
  15. Last night I was riding the edge...tonight I'm getting wamboozled. Some seriously heavy rain...can't tell for sure but I'm over an inch since 8:00pm.
  16. How often do tropical-based 'canes form off the coast of Greenland?
  17. Manor Township was crushed. Central Manor road buckled from flooding and is impassible. I grew up right off Central Manor road and can't imagine how much water it took to destroy that road.
  18. This map says it all for the Harrisburg peeps... Officially I recorded .2"here in Maytown. I JUST missed out on the heavy rain to my south. (less than 5 miles)
  19. Speaking of Harrisburg...anyone going to see the Sens welcome Tim Tebow on City Island next week? My wife and I will be at the Tuesday game....she will no doubt be wearing her Florida Gator #15 jersey...
  20. It's especially remarkable given the flooding that has occurred over the past week in Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey.
  21. Looking at some of the information this morning, you might be right on with that...
