  1. Recorded a trace of snow this morning from a nice random snow shower. Wasn't expecting that!
  2. It's been kind of a sneaky dry spell - we're so focused on what might be coming at the end of the month that we've been caught off guard how dry it's been. Anyway, just about .25" in the gauge. Nice, steady light rain has fallen all evening.
  3. I'm appreciating the rain - it has been dry for 2 weeks. Need some moisture in the ground.
  4. EPS with a strong signal for white gold for the last week of the month. Let's hope it's delayed (somewhat) but not denied. (in the least) I'm optimistic that winter will be here in force before the end of the month.
  5. Yep, that's exactly what I was saying - we'll have 1 precipitation event in the month of January heading into the final week - and it's going to be rain.
  6. It's going to rain tonight in the LSV - thus ending a remarkable stretch of weather that has been relatively the same each day for nearly 2 weeks. Of course, the majority of the precip falls during darkness, so by tomorrow we resume our stretch of what we've had since the beginning of the year. We just can't get a wintry threat inside 7-10 days. Hopefully a piece of energy times right soon for us.
  7. I feel like it's been this way since the start of the new year. My daughter works outside a lot and asks me every Sunday what the weather's going to be like for the upcoming week. The past 2 Sundays I've told her to go outside...what you see and feel now is what you'll see and feel all week.
  8. Yep, we need a high ratio fluff bomb straight from Manitoba. I'm far more partial to Maulers from Manitoba than clippers from Alberta.
  9. After looking at long range guidance from the overnight runs - I don't see much to be encouraged about. This is a rotten time to go into an extended period of dry weather, but the southern stream looks to be predominately closed for business going forward.
  10. Actually saw a report of Thundersnow in Austin...hope Cantore was there!
  11. Thank you for posting that. I always appreciate looking at those maps.
  12. We can hope that this 10 day image changes for the better...soon.
  13. You need to move south! Mine has rain/snow for Tuesday.
  14. Western part of North Carolina is a great place for snow - get out west of Wilkesboro and that area averages more snow in the winter than we do. They get upslope, far enough south to get into southern stream action, and far enough west to avoid changeover. My wife wants to retire to Boone - we'll see...
  15. MDT finished 2020 with an average temperature of 56.6, which ties 1998 as the warmest year on record in Harrisburg.
  16. I've always found it fascinating that Lancaster-based WGAL uses info from Harrisburg and not Lancaster. At least in most of Lanco, 1996 dropped more snow here than 2016 did. The 1983 storm dropped remarkably similar amounts in both locals - I measured 24.8" in the '83 storm. I don't remember 1945.
  17. At the very least, it's been a beautiful winter day. So nice to see nothing but blue skies - good for the soul today.
  18. As Big Ben of the Steelers would say, the Euro looks like poo.
  19. That's what I was saying earlier. This cloudy weather is somewhat depressing.
  20. Having established cold is one less thing to be worried about for sure. At the same time, we don't really need "cold" right now - we can swing this with average temps for the next several weeks. In January and the first half of February, I want moisture first and cold second. As long as we don't see cutters the next month or so, I like our chances. Get something under us and we'll likely be happy. If it's too cold, it's likely going to be too dry.
  21. Woke up on Saturday morning to a forecast of 2-4". Went to bed that night with a call for 12"+. Woke up Sunday morning and it was 20-30". By afternoon, it was up to 24-36". Final total = 30.5".
  22. 25 years ago today, our weather was anything but boring.
  23. I've gone on record here previously stating that I enjoy a nice dark, dreary day - but at some point can we at least have SOME sunshine? We're on a roll lately with cloudy days...
  24. I posted my question on my phone and couldn't see your signature. Thank you for responding. I'm sitting at 10.8" so those 2 small events you've had recently has put you on top.
