Lancaster's "other" official station at MU recorded a low of 6. That's 11 degrees warmer than MDT. That's remarkable.
Every local news outlet that I watch/see/follow in the Lancaster area refers to the MU readings as Lancaster's temp. Is there any other example of an area's official temp not being at the airport? LNS is never referred to by outlets that I see around here. @Mount Joy Snowman @pasnownut @Superstorm - do you have any clarification on this?
In fairness - 21 was the highest that I got. Shortly after posting this the temp plateaued and has been bouncing between 19 and 21 for the past few hours. Original forecast ended up being pretty darn accurate.
Up to 21 here now, already 2 over the forecast high. I alluded to this last week...cold, regardless of the extent of the air mass, often seems overdone. At least for today, that's going to hold true.
The sun, blue skies and snow-covered landscape this morning makes for any amazing descriptive word that one can find. So nice to snatch winter from the jaws of Nina.
Is there a secondary front coming through today? I sort of expected a day when temps were very slow to budge, CTP had me for a forecast high of 19. It's 8:50am and I'm already up to 17.3.
I cannot remember a time previously when MDT was 11 degrees lower than my for an official low temperature. Almost as remarkable as the half foot of snow about to fall in Baton Rouge.
6:30: Light snow. Temp is 23.5. Average of 3 measurements is 6.2". About 4-5" on the driveway. For the first time in over 1,000 days...it's time to shovel!
