I wanted to respond to this yesterday but didn't know what to say. A day later and I still don't know what to say. I'll be completely honest...I'm embarrassed with how little I know/understand about topics I really should know a lot more about. I've become very jaded over the years. It's not an excuse. I need to be better. What I will say that while overall I very much consider myself a conservative, I'm not one who keeps my eyes shut when I see things around me that don't support that narrative. Climate change is probably the best example. I understand the arguments against it and for some time I fell in line with some of that thinking. (we are merely running in alternating cycles of warmth and cold) However, I can't ignore the fact that sea levels are rising at a rate that's unprecedented. Many east coast communities are on the verge of extinction because of the unrelenting rise in water levels. That seems to be directly related to our warming climate. On the whole though, I need to get my head out of the sand (what's left of it) and become more in tune with what's happening around me. Right now I'm just too ignorant (in the true sense) to offer much dialogue. That's as honest as I can be right now.

My lowest temp since midnight was 40.7! On my drive to work the temp ranged from 35 to 41. I was the warmest location, but no where was it below freezing. From the map, it looks like most of western Lanco was well into the 30s this morning.

If nothing else it will be entertaining to see how next week breaks for us. Elliott said it could be 35 or 70. Where does the boundary set up?

It's legit infuriating how he wins "just enough" games every single year to essentially walk just beyond the line where the team would be forced to make a decision. Even if he was a good coach, most times a coach sort of wears out their welcome and at some point, it's time to part ways. Clearly, the Steelers reached that point with him at least a few years ago. Organization is loyal way beyond fault.

On a warm spring day, I think this was probably in 2003 or 2004, I was standing outside with a colleague at lunch and we were looking west across the river. (this is a 100% true story BTW) I say to the guy, "man...what an incredibly beautiful day!" (It was one of those days that the sky was the deepest of blues imaginable and it was probably about 65-70 at the time) After a few seconds of silence, his response was "eh, look over the landfill...there's a cloud over there." Sure enough, in the midst of a sky that was 99.98% clear...there was a single, small cumulus cloud to our southwest. One cloud. Perfect day. But he found that one cloud... #wasitactuallyruinthatIwastalkingto?

Franklin is finally trying to both appease the fan base while also acknowledging that he needs to do more to get to the level he's expected to reach.

I don't disagree at all...my human nature is to try and make people happy/satisfied. So much so that's it ties into my occupation. I'll get used to talking to myself over there.

I find it sort of weirdly satisfying that Franklin poached Knowles from THE. I feel like PSU is far too often on the other end of those types of shenanigans.

You know, you're absolutely right. And to that point, I just created a banter thread for all non-weather related topics. I've contributed more of that stuff than anyone here, and thank you @pasnownut @CarlislePaWx @Voyager and others who have asked for this for a long time. Message received. Some have been skeptical or have not desired to have a separate thread but I'm willing to do my part and give it a go.

It's time. I've contributed as much if not more posts that are non-weather related than anyone here. Thread will only be as good/active as our family wants to engage here.

Petering out over Peter's Mountain?

(Someone tell CTP) Wednesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 19 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph.

Too much going on to look this morning but my low of 35 was the first morning in some time that stayed above freezing.

I did a little (emphasis on that) research over lunch, it appears as if January 2025 will be the first BN temp month at MU since November 2023 if I'm reading this correctly. https://www.atmos.millersville.edu/~wic/climo/t-anomaly.htm The last month that MU was at least 5 degrees BN was April 2018. Edit: The cold Januarys of 1977 and 1994 really stand out on that graph. We all talk about 1994, for old guys like myself, 1977 will always be the benchmark. Over 11 degrees below normal for the month. The Chesapeake Bay was walkable shore to shore that winter.

Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

My CTP forecast for Wednesday is "Breezy, with gusts to 45mph". I wonder what constitutes windy?

Other than completely exposed south-facing areas, I still have pretty much solid snow cover. Current depth is 1" in open areas facing south to 4" in sheltered areas. Been some time that I've had continuous snow cover for over a week's time.

Hopefully the Eagles can beat the Chiefs. And the Referee...the Umpire...the Field Judge...the Back Judge...the Line Judge...the Down Judge...the Side Judge... I don't complain about officiating. Like hardly ever. I think it's just in bad taste. But when the Line Judge comes running in last night a full yard beyond the line to gain (which, in fairness, Josh Allen did not clear that line by a full yard, but I thought the ball broke the line easily) and ends up "backing up" to JUST behind the line to gain...I've about had enough of Orange-tainted calls. Back to weather. I needed to get that out.
