  1. From your place north there's notably more snow cover than south...along the river between Columbia and Conestoga it's obliterated. Still a fair amount of snow up this way in protected places.
  2. As of 3:45PM: Front yard: 80% snow cover (depth ranging from 2" up to 6") Back yard: < 25% snow cover (deepest remaining is about 3", would expect 100% melt by morning) Currently: 56.6 with high clouds on the western horizon.
  3. Cannot relate - I enjoy nice weather and being outside, but I can do what I want with the daylight we get in November and December. I LOVE when it's dark by 5pm. Different things for different people.
  4. When my wife and I got in our car after our walk, she looked at me asked if I'd put the AC on.
  5. I understand that - I responded because it seemed like you were doubting my obs. My wife and I just returned from a 3 mile walk in the snow - had a great time. Walking in t shirts on a beautiful day.
  6. Interesting - I have new Davis Vue that seems to be exceptionally accurate. After I posted my obs, I saw that MU was also 53. Not sure why all of those places you listed were so much cooler. Anywho, 55.2 here now. Edit: It's 55 at MDT as of their latest obs. We are right with each other... Edit #2: It's actually 53 at HIA...my mistake. That was 45 minutes ago.
  7. Sunny and 53 at 11:30AM - think we take a run towards 60.
  8. Nice seeing the central/southern VA jackpot - that might come as a surprise to some folks down there who've been enjoying an early spring preview this week.
  9. Agree, as a long-time user of the Auto Train between VA and FL, we've encountered a lot of delays over the years waiting on freight traffic to move through. Amtrak is too bare-boned to have the resources to move to their own rails.
  10. There's a video that went viral on Youtube - this was out your way (Greencastle) of a large family that for whatever reason was playing on railroad tracks. Next thing you know, freight train comes along and the family scatters everywhere. Couple of them JUST missed being run over. This happened in the past couple of years from what I remember. Scary too. Not sure why they decided to have a family reunion on active freight rails.
  11. Yes, remember it well now. I haven't had the air conditioning on since... Maybe tomorrow? I think if we have full sun some of us take a run at 60.
  12. Ah...so it might have been one of those 12:01am highs? I do remember taking my wife out Christmas eve in the rain to look at lights.
  13. @Bubbler86 I didn't respond to you earlier about the Christmas warmth. I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember it...and I remember all of that kind of stuff. I must really be getting old. LOL.
  14. We need an appetizer before the grand feast blizzard in a couple of weeks.
  15. Just made the 12 mile drive home from work. South facing areas were decimated today. Lots of standing water on 441 between Washington Boro and Columbia. My yard is 75% covered ATM.
  16. It's honestly disappearing even quicker than I thought it would.
  17. Thank you! What a great picture, appreciate you sharing it!
  18. Indeed - fortunately it was there many years ago and saw them.
  19. By the way, I just hit the 50 degree mark. Forecasted high today was 43...
  20. LOL, that was on my mind until I was actually there. By that point, my wife was calling me many not so repeatable names for subjecting our kids (our daughters were 7 and 8 at the time) to the noise and commotion. My youngest daughter was absolutely terrified. I felt horrible about it at least for a few minutes.
  21. I was in St. Maarten years ago and made it a point to go to Maho Beach to watch the jets coming in. If you're (anyone) not familiar with this phenomena, go to Youtube and type in "Maho Beach jet landing". As crazy as it looks on video, it's something else to experience...
  22. @Voyager and myself find it entertaining to watch trains on live cams...
