  1. "Some" model consensus that we might have a chance for wintry precip centered around next weekend. By no means are they good odds but it's likely the last "legit" chance of the season.
  2. Good morning! My low was 40 overnight and it looks to be a fairly decent Friday. Whatever happened to the simple premise of people talking well/acting well towards others? It's very discouraging to see how so many people lack decency to just treat others well. If this "culture" is going to be an ongoing theme in here, I need to move on myself. I'm growing increasingly tired of miserable people. I was teaching a class recently and made a point about integrity. I said that I sincerely hoped that if I walked out of the room I was teaching in, the people remaining would only have good things to say about me. To me, that matters. I want to leave a lasting, positive impression on others. Well, as soon as i said it, someone immediately yelled out with venom "I don't give a F what you or anyone else thinks of me." I just find that sad.
  3. We don't need widespread severe around here. While snow is a "my backyard" derby, I frankly don't want to see or hear of anyone's property damaged. Period.
  4. CTP says it will be windier here tonight than on Friday night/Saturday. That's just what my forecast shows.
  5. Nice rainfall for you. As you said, so very much needed.
  6. Went out at lunch and needed the AC on in my car. Temp made it to 61 but clouds have moved in and it's down to 59.
  7. 54.3 at 11:35am - making a run at 60 this afternoon.
  8. You'd think at some point he might feel just a wee bit humbled...not DT! It already feels really good in the sun this morning.
  9. DT calling people stupid... Virginia had a snowstorm last week. Interestingly, I was following along in the Richmond-specific thread and the posters were sharing what the local forecasters were calling for...most were in the 3-6" ballpark for Richmond proper. DT was calling for 9-12" and was calling out the local forecasters for their "lack of understanding of what was about to happen." Richmond's final official tally: 4"
  10. Interesting (at least to me) temp fluctuations this evening here: 9:30PM: 45.3 9:40PM: 39.9 9:50PM: 42.7
  11. 57 was my high temp today as well. Going to finish today with a double digit AN departure.
  12. My friend, that one is totally lost on me. Was this person specific to our area?
  13. Now I'm really confused, I thought all along that we had snow from Friday overnight into Saturday. I was convinced today that I was off one day, now you're sort of confirming my initial memory was correct. And you also confirmed it came in multiple pieces.
  14. We were reminiscing about past posters in our thread - you were one of just a few that came up...probably because you were missed the most.
  15. Note: His "one more period of chilly conditions" in the time frame he mentioned above is after a 2 day blast of cold air on March 2nd and 3rd, which I did not include in the above snippet.
  16. Here's what Elliott has to say about the March 7th to 11th time frame: High-latitude blocking over Greenland, Iceland and northeastern Canada has vanished and won't return for several weeks or more. There may be one more period of "chilly" conditions between March 7-11 before a major warmup during the middle of the month. In fact, we may see a sudden onset of Spring with persistently.. and perhaps well-above.. normal temperatures during the 3rd and/or 4th weeks of the month. Signs point toward the return of a deep trough over western North America and anomalous, upper-level ridge over the eastern half of the continent. Snow-lovers will have to count on the March 7-11 period for one more accumulating snowfall. Thereafter, the odds of measurable snow will likely hit "rock bottom" and essentially be "nil" until next winter. Even in that 5-day window, any snowstorm would probably have to be of the "thread-the-needle" variety and occur at night.
  17. This is in all likelihood the last "real" opportunity of the season. We can say "no way, no how, no chance, etc." and likely be right, or we can say "why not? It's something to at least track and watch for over the coming days." It's a long time until we track again. Might as well stay invested while we can.
  18. Yes - I was able to confirm after reading @sauss06 and your posts that I was a day off - I thought it was a Saturday/Sunday deal but it didn't start until Sunday. I had a few hours of mixed precip Sunday night before winding down as all snow on Monday. Our daughter was 17 months old and I just found a picture of her sitting at our patio door with the snow towering above her in the background as it had drifted several feet high against the door.
  19. Interesting, thank you for that. I really do need to check my book when I get home. Now that you mention it I think I might have had sleet as well. And maybe that's my memory of the storm being disjointed. I will say that for whatever reason, my memory of that storm isn't nearly as sharp as storms that came years before that. I have very vivid memories going all the way back to Feb. 1983. I do remember the Blizzard of 1978 but the details are fuzzy. Of all of our big snowstorms since 1978 my recollection of 2003 is the worst. No idea why that is.
