Just a bit of a temperature gradient with the above storm - honestly this is kind of wild in Virginia: -

MU downgrading tonight's system to .01" to .10" of ice accretion. Yesterday it was up to .15". Still forecasting a trace to 2" of sleet prior to that. -

Not a fan of THIS particular output. Hate riding the southern edge. I liked the output with purples well down into central VA much better than this. -

You need to set this guy straight! @MUweather There appears to be a band of snow extending from northern DE through the southern-tier counties of PA, but it’s all virga (precip that evaporates before reaching the ground) due to dry air in the low-levels of the atmosphere. It’s why I haven’t mentioned precip till this eve. -

@anotherman - not sure if you saw this, but it's a pretty cool story: https://6abc.com/post/daddy-did-save-sister-young-philadelphia-plane-crash-victim-asks-waking-hospital/15864306/ -

Low of 29 which is 4 above forecast. We'll see if that matters tonight. -

Hot off the press...Elliott's newly minted discussion. Hint: He ends it with 2 words of advice, the first of which is "Buckle"... https://www.millersville.edu/weathercenter/forecasts/weather-discussion.php -

Can't post it right now but wow...Elliott is going big time in emphasizing a major impact winter storm tomorrow night. He's telling people to stay off the roads, period. (unless for emergencies and absolute required travel) -

That's cool! I think that's a 12:30 faceoff so hopefully you can have a complete sports day. Enjoy your time with you daughter! -

Andy is the one who gave me pause. I really have a hard time picking against him. He'll have at least a couple of wrinkles that the Eagles haven't seen and can't prepare for. I might go down in flames but I'm staying the course! -

That's definitely KC's path to victory. Could happen. We'll see soon enough. -

Anyone wish to make a Super Bowl prediction? I've had a score in my head since last Sunday night. I still like it, and I'm riding it through the end: Eagles 28 Kansas Shitty 17 I think the Eagles will run the ball well, keep the Chief's offense off the field for the most part and win "rather comfortably". Don't be surprised if it's a fast-moving game. I think the Eagles will chew huge chunks of time off the clock with 13-17 play drives. Big caveat is turnovers. If the Eagles play clean, they win. Book it. -

I understand and respect your feelings. Truly. And taking those numbers verbatim, you would be a good deal colder than my location. Having said all of that, I personally find single digit temps refreshing and invigorating IF they don't come with strong gusty winds. -

I normally would agree with you. Until my drive to work this morning. I'm good for ice for a while. In MU's 11/1 Winter Outlook he did outline a heightened risk of a significant ice storm this winter... -

At least in Lancaster County, it doesn't appear to be spotty. There were accidents reported in all areas. And at least several in areas where schools opened on time. This affected both Rt. 30 and Rt. 283 in Lancaster, both were shutdown earlier. It wasn't just the back roads that were problematic. -

MU Weather Center Due in large part to the #ArcticOutbreak from Jan. 20-24, #January2025 concluded as the coldest winter month (DJF) at@millersvilleu since January 2018. Despite above-average snowfall (11.1"), it was the 6th-driest January on record at the 'Ville. That's maximizing snowfall potential in that data. -

Do school district administrators only base their opening/delayed/closing decisions based on how white the ground is? Even though we had very little snow, the roads were trash this morning. Our local school district dropped the ball big time by opening on time. -

Finished with .2" of snow and sleet last evening. It's been a crazy morning in the office... Had a team member involved in an accident earlier - she's going to be okay, her car is as she described to me via Teams is finished. Personally, I slid multiple times on my way in to work and I was driving VERY defensively. As others have mentioned, back roads (even some significantly traveled roads around here) were awful. Which raises this question: WHY...why was the Donegal School District (and others, I presume) not on a delayed opening this morning? I really don't like to question other's decisions, this seems baffling. I thought road conditions were worse today than in at least the past several years. I don't understand.
