Large junkyard fire in Hunts Point. South wind is sending smoke and hazy skies miles north at least to Westchester county line, esp on the Yonkers/Mt Vernon side. Teterboro is offically reporting Smoke and 76*
Smoke/Haze here, 75 with chemical smokey smell in the air
Cloudy 89, after a high of 93. 31st of the year. Basically following LGA, but a little less 95+ days. Looking back, mid July to early Aug was almost wall to wall 90s. 7/24, and 7/31 broke up what would of been a super heat wave.
That's Laura. Models have been switching back and forth between her and Marco/TD14.
Its be crazy if we got to see the Fujiwhara effect happen with these 2 storms.
Its all relative..lows 70s still felt cool to me esp with managable humidity. Thought id have an outside shot at getting below 70, but 72 was the low. Compared to typical lows of mid 70s to low 80s w/ high humidity this summer this is a very cool day. Next few nights look like small chances to get a touch below 70 within the core UHI, if not then who know how long it'll go.
I had to go to midtown today, first time I've been in Manhattan in months. Its kind of a different world down there in terms of social distancing, much more lax attitude..not FL level, but its still a different vibe. I think there is less people personally affected by covid compared to the other boros. So many people have died up here its still a terrifying thing to alot of people.
