  1. Light fluffy snow then a layer of sleet then more fluffy snow on top. Its been low to mid 20s the entire time upper Manhattan, Bx. Its been several degrees milder into Queens, BK, so I'd imagine wetter, heavier snow there.
  2. Now moderate sleet, mixing with snow. Wind is really howling off the Sound now. Sleet was loudly blasting east/north facing windows.
  3. Dry slot gets close then seems like a moderate band move in off the Atlantic just in time for those east of SI/Sandy Hook. Dont know how long that will hold up.
  4. Its down to 23, didnt expect that. Light fluffy snow over here piling up fast. If you believe NWS and most media outlets, should be a foot or more in NYC from midtown and points north
  5. Thats what they were forecasting anyway, so perhaps it may not make it to BK, southern Queens for the most part.
  6. Light snow now, in southern end of New Rochelle, on the Sound for this one. Wonder if I will see some coastal flooding tonight. Some actual waves out there now. Few miles away in the Bx, showing 28, dew 17.
  7. the airport only reported a Trace, but reports of accumulation in the city especially in NW DC. Adams Morgan around an inch, increasing the further you go into NW DC.
  8. ABC changed their predictions, more bullish like NWS for in and around NYC. 12"-18" cutting through the middle of NYC including Manhattan, Western Qns, Bronx (tad less perhaps right on the Sound) 6"-12" SI, BK, most of Queens and then down from there.
  9. Just went to mostly wet snow while driving out of New Rochelle along the Sound into the Bronx
  10. 36, mainly flurries, occasional light snow. Looks like steady snow south of 125 St and into Qns/BK
  11. Yeah me too. I wish this was forecasted. Would of changed everything if ppl could of planned ahead. I still give thanks for a great afternoon . Saw a good amount of people out riding bikes etc..
  12. Mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun most of the morn..now just partly sunny..up to 66.
  13. Rain looks mostly done already. Just an occasional shower left. Or should I excpect areas to the west to fill in?
  14. 35 after a low of 32. coldest of season so far, 1st freeze
  15. I think the NWS didn't consider that night sufficient enough to end the growing season throughout the 5 boros. Just touching 32 for a few mins deep in Central Park while the sun is coming up didn't do much harm overall in NYC. Staten Island and a few isolated neighborhoods elsewhere being the exception.
  16. Some light rain and 47. Flurries/snow showers N&W of I-287?
  17. Freeze watch for NYC...except for Staten Island and their suburban like overnights. Bye to the growing season. Still have a few plants holding on. FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Temperatures around freezing possible. * WHERE...New York (Manhattan), Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), Northern Queens and Southern Queens Counties. * WHEN...From late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
  18. A warm thanksgiving wouldn't be a bad thing. People will congregate together despite whatever rules are set. The more that can be outdoors the better. Another 70 degree Christmas might be needed too.
  19. Brooklyn College..near the last stop on the 2 train at Flatbush & Nostrand Ave. All the NYC mesonets are on CUNY campuses.
