In lower Manhattan now and it sure feels like 80. Home thermometer is 68, a little east of the Bx Zoo. Spring is the only time Central Park can regularly be a NYC hot spot..and probably parts of SI too.
In the bx, rain turned into a hailstorm, pea sized and enough to coat the ground, now the sun's coming back out melting the coating away. Hail did take out a decent amount of cherry blossoms etc
Yeah time to close the curtain on this. These dewpoints are brutal too..5 degrees or so, air that dry plus allergy season is a brutal assault on the sinus. Even temps in the 40s have alot more chill to it with humidity so low.
Driving around Pelham Bay, Bx had a windy burst of very heavy rain and sleet, more like hail really. Now light rain and snow, temp rapidly falling, down to 40.
Alot of ice here in the bx. Much more than the last time. Thick coating everywhere, a quarter inch ice on some surfaces, but some of that is sleet holding it together so dunno how you measure that. Some sagging trees along Pelham Pkwy. Right now freezing rain and sleet mix and 30.
Snow picked up alot compared to before sunrise..now around 2" on the trees and cars. Heavier snow not but still no acclumation at all on paved surfaces. Temp down to 31. Yday was 61.
Temp off to the races today. Already 51 under sunny skies. About a 10 degree jump in a hour. Today suppose to be a few degrees cooler than yday I think. We'll see how that holds up.
Noticeable difference here in the last hour. Trees are icy and sidewalks starting to ice over. I'm down to 29 in the bx. Based on NYC micronets, 28 at Lehman College, 29 by Parkchester, 29 at Queens College
