  1. Yes, but there has been some smoke, but as everyone knows, this year has been (hopefully) unique. As far as temps, they’ve been great. Precip has been mostly dry but there have been clouds. We’ve yet to have a completely clear night to try out my star tracking photo gear, but overall dry. Given a choice (and in a couple years, I’ll be retired) I’d come back in September to avoid the crowds. Now, as a teacher, I’m confined to summer break. But, as one of my travel companions said, it’s amazing what getting an early start and a hill will do to thin the crowds.
  2. It’s been an amazing trip. Still have Jasper and Glacier ahead of us. And the weather looks ideal.
  3. More travel banter but we survived last night’s storms and got up early to drive up to Lake Louise. Decided on the Plain of Six Glaciers hike. Hopefully all have their power back on and damage was minimal. One of my travel companions that lives in my neighborhood at home is still without power and she got an alert it won’t be back on until Friday at 11pm. Nuts to that. We’re off to Jasper tomorrow for a few days.
  4. Quiet day in Banff. Did some laundry and walked the town and some nearby trails. The goats were near our campsite, and tomorrow we head to Lake Louis. Hope everyone there got through the storms unscathed.
  5. I’m in Banff having a laundry day and sipping a cocktail. Instead of catching up with the 10 pages, I jumped to the last page. Have you posted pics? A yes or no will suffice. I will scroll back later if yes.
  6. Still in Banff and today we did a 15 miler up to Healy’s Pass and then circled around to Simpsons Pass and back to Sunshine Village ski resort. Smoke has been a minor issue as there is a haze that restricts long visibility, but the scenery has been stellar.
  7. A few shots from the Johnston Canyon hike today. Best part of the day was heading to a brewery in Banff after the hike and having the O’s game on! Go O’s!!! Sitting by the fire now sipping a whiskey and listening to rolling distant thunder. Great day.
  8. I rarely make a prediction that comes even remotely close to fruition.
  9. Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan, Canada. Pics are from sunset last night and one from this morning’s hike. Incredible scenery here.
  10. Thanks brother. Have a great trip across the pond. Let’s meet up again in September for a beers.
  11. Enjoy the trip! I’m currently in Indiana Dunes National Park. Heading out to Grasslands, Banff, and Jasper in Canada, and finishing up in Glacier. Three week road trip! Currently sipping a barrel aged imperial stout. The bottom one if my downsizing doesn’t destroy the quality. Yum!
  12. Melanie Newman tweeted about the sky last night. https://apple.news/ADMSsSdBhROOO6SYhOtnaxw 1.33” last night. 7.22” for the month!
  13. What a game. Someone revive @WxUSAF
  14. Starting with a coke. I rarely drink soda but after working outside a bit, I craved it. Moving on to an old fashioned @CAPE style. With maple syrup.
  15. I had to look that one up, but some storms firing north of 70 west of Frederick. Maybe they’ll hold together.
  16. Definitely. I was only addressing @mattie g’s concern regarding the consistency of any one station reporting regularly.
  17. If you have an account, you can do a station report summary. Here’s mine, for example, but you can chart any station.
  18. I’m not trying to start any debate or conversation about the contents of this article other than to say that I might start looking for property in Europe! Ice Age!
  19. The possible good news is that Mountcastle will probably get more playing time. Some regular at bats and maybe he could get hot. Is Stowers healthy? I don’t think he’s the guy to take over CF but maybe get him a few more games of big league experience.
  20. Man, this O’s team is having a run.
