  1. My family in western Canada have no more than a mile visibility because of the wildfire smoke.
  2. I didn't know that part. Thanks for setting me straight. (It was outside the third base gate; I saw a short video on twitter and they could be visibly heard inside the stadium.)
  3. They've put the Nats game into a rain delay although they don't have the tarp on the field yet and it doesn't look like it's going to amount to much. They're supposed to show fireworks after the game is over. Edit to add they've told the fans to leave.
  4. They're landing planes at DCA on a really sharp southern turn right now. As in they're completing the turn near the Wilson Bridge.
  5. Wham. (Here near the Wilson Bridge).
  6. I'm near the Wilson Bridge so didn't get as much rain, but I can testify it was a bit noisy for a while.
  7. If you look at the bottom of the page, it's "Powered by Invision Community". I participate on a few other websites that use Invision and they've had upgrades recently, some more well-received than others.
  8. I'm sure in 4-5 months from now the Weather Channel will have at least one storm on its list named Anna, Kristoff, or Olaf.
  9. My parents each had 1967 Camaros. Timeless.
  10. It's been so long since England drummed Germany out of a major tournament @H2O wasn't around yet. (It was in 1966.)
  11. I figured the guy had to have been cheering for the Swiss; in the biggest upset of the Euro 2020 tournament so far they came back from a 3-1 deficit, with the tying goal coming in the 90th minute,, won on penalty kicks, and sent reigning World Cup champs France packing. https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/euro-2020-switzerland-fan-meme-goal-france (Posted this before I saw @H2O's post directly above this one.)
  12. Thanks. They don't, but my sister who lives nearby does and I've already preached to her about not setting it too low. I'm most concerned about my mom since my dad can flee to the basement but she isn't as mobile. Edit: My 15-year-old nephew has assured me he will be keeping an eye on them. I'm a proud Auntie.
  13. It's 40% in British Columbia. That's what makes this so dangerous: A major heat wave covering multiple states, provinces, and territories (it's going to be 84 in Yellowknife on Wednesday; that's practically unheard of) where residential AC isn't widespread. Having a furnace in good working order is more important.
  14. May I ask where specifically? I know both Edmonton and Vancouver have forecasted highs of 102 on Wednesday, and that's before the heat index. To be honest, I'm really concerned for my parents right now. Edit to add my mom informs me it's somewhere in British Columbia with a forecasted high of 49C, which is 120F.
  15. Pretty good downpours here at Route 1 and the Beltway in Fairfax County.
  16. And they're putting in another awful performance so far tonight (down 9-0 in the top of the 5th against the Jays).
  17. And that heat is stretching pretty far. Edmonton, which is nearly 400 miles north of the US border, has the following highs forecast for next M-F: 94, 94, 97, 96, and 92, although in reality for them the heat starts tomorrow with temps jumping into the 80s. There are a lot of people, especially those living in older houses, who don't have residential AC, so there is some serious freaking out going on up there, including from relatives of mine.
  18. Oh, there are Brood X cicadas in New York State and New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Just get out of the city to places with tall trees.
  19. Bow your heads for the cicadas who came up from the ground only to wind up being washed into storm drains.
  20. Not great timing for the ice cream truck as it visits the neighborhood next door to where I live in Fairfax County while Thunderstorm, Round 2 also decides to pay a visit at the same time.
  21. My dad went to the ER last night and has been admitted. I've spent the past few hours telling him about these cicadas just to keep him entertained from over 2000 miles away. Although he may not tell the male RN about them.
  22. Um... https://nypost.com/2021/05/20/get-ready-for-sex-crazed-zombie-cicadas-in-new-york/
  23. I have heard the same thing, but overnight. And the description of running water is the same as what I heard.
  24. Lawn mowing going on outside, by professional mowers. Sorry, cicadas parked on the ground.
