  1. This. The past atmospheric river event helped with the reservoirs, but the groundwater replenishment process needs much more help. So if they take another set of deluges, it's probably for the best even with the short-term pain it causes as it falls.
  2. My youngest did a semester abroad in the fall in Paris. And...yeah, the travel around the continent for him was amazing and easy and cheap. Happy yours is getting to experience same. Mine had a great fall to say the least.
  3. @WxUSAF put this in the futility thread, but I think it might work here too...just...wow - most of this forum is in the -48 to -72 snow deficit contour...
  4. Folks, we got a real chance at this now BWI: .7 - '49/'50 1.2 - '72/'73 1.8 - 2011/12 1.8 - 2019/20 2.3 - 2001/02 DCA .1 - '97/'98 .1 - '72/'73 .6 - 2019/20 2.0 - 2011/12 2.2 - '75/'76 Dulles: 2.2 - '72/'73 2.6 - 2001/02 2.9 - 2019/20 3.7 - 2011/12 4.4 - '80/'81
  5. That, plus the research is into tornados that spin up in squall lines. From my experience since moving here in 2010, that is FAR more likely to be our issue than a supercell type storm producing a tornado.
  6. Near 60 today and near 70 tomorrow in Balt City area. Guessing the DC and northern VA crew should be into the 60s today and maybe into the 70s tomorrow...
  7. Whichever the dry models were up in northern balt county…F-. Pretty horrible whiff in the very short term for them…
  8. Sorry eagles fans, absolute robbery that you all didn’t get the ball back with a chance to at least tie.
  9. While this is research being conducted in the mid-south - it is into the way we tend to get our infrequent spinnys over this way - thought you all might like to read it: https://dailymemphian.com/subscriber/section/metro/article/34141/noaa-studying-deadly-tornadoes-in-southeast-united-states
  10. Stepped out to walk the dogs and was all "damn, it's cold" then checked the temp and it is 36. This "winter" is ruining me.
  11. Stop starting storm threads five days ahead of the alleged event. Seriously. If there’s a threat in the mid-range we can do a mid-range thread if need be. We used to do those.
  12. The "no capes" montages from The Incredibles only Edna is saying "NO STORM THREADS"
  13. he can share those thoughts to his hearts content in this thread or in the part of the board set aside for that. Again, that's not a difficult request to adhere to.
  14. you don't know the history here. The reason the mods and Randy have asked to keep it out of the long range threads is inevitably people want to argue about whether climate change is happening and the cause and it derails conversations about the weather in those threads. There is this whole thread where it can be discussed, and an entire sub-part of this board devoted that discussion. No one is keeping the science out. Have at it! But asking that the long range threads not be derailed as they repeatedly have been is not unreasonable.
  15. 57 and no wind in Monkton. Working from home today and have patio slider open and front door open to the screen to air the house out a bit. Pretty remarkable mid to late April spring day.
  16. i know you know this, but for those who don't, the horrible winter for our region of '72-'73 featured an all-time Carolina snowstorm that is a legendary in those parts...
