My favorite is gonna be when there finally is a change and some cold gets here that we are told it will be another few weeks beyond that before we have a chance as the first few systems after said change pass to the northwest still and will be needed to “get things right” and that when the storm after the storm after the storm gets here the spacing won’t be right and piece of energy will act as kicker to boot storm off the coast then pattern will re-shuffle and then it is March and the parts of the forum that live with mountain goats tell us March 25 snow is at hand while it rains sideways off an east wind as true blocking finally kicks in and stays until may 20.

Your climate, friend, is much more favorable for finding some snow in a Nina than ours is in the majority of our part of the mid-Atlantic. You should definitely have some hope. Down here, people are being more or less pretty realistic about what this set-up likely means.

Empty nest now with one child graduated from college and second child now in his first weeks of college. Also, just came into an extra week vacation per year at work. So...I am planning to chase snow this year at least once. Gonna toss the pup in the car and just go.

Two of the five worst snowfall total winters the region has experienced has been in the last 10 years.

Agreed - the 2-4 inch deals have been harder and harder to come by in the ten years I have been in the area - but looking at the longer record , that seems to comport with your memory from the 80s and 90s for this part of the area. Dovetails with @psuhoffman obs/thoughts in another thread wondering if the global climate trends are taking those events away from parts of the area.

That means two of the top five worst snowfall seasons for BWI location have happened in the last decade. It has truly been huge boom or massive bust for BWI/Baltimore City area since I got here in 2009 - probably why I am constantly hunting big storms - the ones on the margins don't do much for this area of late...
