  1. Yes, I hope so as well! I’m from the thread just up the road from you guys in Central Pennsylvania. I love Winter weather & I have learned a lot from the great posters in your thread over the years. The positive & informative posting style, mixed with a good amount of personality, makes the posts of @Bob ChiII , @psuhoffman , & @showmethesnow , along with many others on here, a great read everyday in the fall & winter. I usually only lurk here, & just post in my own thread, but I just wanted to say thanks to the good posters in here. Also, in the spirit of @Jebman , I hope that we all have a great winter season & all get crushed with a cold, snow filled year !
  2. The 18z NAM has upped the ante for our possible Tuesday snow event. It slowed the progression of the front & allowed the colder temps to infiltrate more quickly. Let’s hope this trend continues. This looks more like what the models were showing a few days ago for this time period. Hey @MAG5035 , what are your thoughts on this possible event ?
  3. The 12z NAM & GFS both agree on many of us getting a dusting to an inch or 2 of snow early Tuesday. The GFS LSV jackpot looks to be right over the home of @pasnownut
  4. Great to see you back on here ! I saw my first flakes as well this morning! Hopefully next week we can score our first measurement of snow! The best part is that this is all preseason tracking. Any snow that we get during the next few weeks is a bonus.
  5. Some of us might see our first flakes at least in the air on Thursday night. Hopefully this coming Tuesday delivers our first accumulation of snow. The models all show some type of storm in our region. There is plenty of cold air on the way. It will all come down to how much phasing takes place & the timing & the final storm track. Either way, it is great to be back doing some early season winter storm tracking in early November yet again!
  6. It sure would be great to score some early season snow again this year. As you said, there should be some extraordinary cold air around by this coming weekend. There appears to be a few chances at snow, so hopefully we all cash in & get on the board!
  7. This thread should be very busy this week! At the very least, many folks in CTP have a decent chance to see their first snowflakes flying this season. If the cold air press times up well with the precip, many of us could be in business for our first accumulation of snow very early in the season yet again. This pattern could also provide more wintry weather again next week along with some impressive cold air for this time of year. It’s time to get our winter weather game face on everyone!
  8. The 12z Euro today delivered on the snow threat for Thursday night into early Friday with a storm tracking to our southeast while cold high pressure is moving in to our north & west. I would take this solution & run !
  9. You might be our thread’s version of @Jebman ! That man loves cold & snow more than just about anyone!
  10. You sir are brave. We have had several nights the last 2 weeks that went into the 30’s & 40’s.
  11. Happy snow tracking season everyone! This morning certainly was chilly & frosty! We need to watch the storm around the end of this week. The ensembles & Ops are showing CTP on the southern edge of a little snow by next weekend. As of now, the models show the better chance for snow for NY state & parts of New England. Either way, the cold shots appear to be lining up for the first half of November. Hopefully we can score some early snow just like last year!
  12. Hopefully the warm air is gone for good this year! Great to hear it is snowing in PA !
  13. The average high at MDT today is still 60. The record high for today is 80, which was set in 1984. The temps today were not too far out of line. Later this week, we are going to cool off. We might not get to 50 this weekend.
  14. Yes, it’s good to see it showing on the maps! It will be even better when it becomes reality sometime in the next 2 months!
  15. I like seeing snow storms showing up in the US outside of the mountains this early in the season. This week it looks like Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin & Minnesota are going to get a good early snowstorm. Some years, there is no cold to be found to allow it to snow so early. This year, so far, there will have already been some good snowstorms in the US. Heck, it even snowed yesterday in the Texas panhandle! The average high at MDT today is 61, so we still have a few weeks or so until even a below normal pattern can produce a chance of snow. Our time is coming soon!
  16. The forecast for today has undergone massive changes since a few days ago! For Most of the week, the forecast for today was supposed to be sunny with a high in the low 60’s. Then by Friday, they introduced a slight 30% chance of rain. Now, there is a 90 % chance of rain today with another system riding up the coast. It was a terrible job of forecasting by most sources that I looked at this week. Enjoy your surprise rainy Sunday everyone!
  17. Let’s turn the page & start winter tracking! The latest run of the Euro weeklies takes us to December 2nd ! It’s time to dust off our winter play book & get into our winter tracker game shape!
  18. I caved with the heat & put it on 2 days ago. We always say every year that we are going to wait until November 1st, but usually we turn it on sometime during the last 2 weeks of October. It looks like we are heading into a colder than normal pattern during the last week of October. It should last through at least the first week of November, it not longer. Hopefully we can discuss looking for our first snow flakes of the season during the next couple of weeks!
  19. The pattern looks to be developing into a trough in the east & a ridge out west for the last week or so of October into early November. The elusive -NAO block could be in play as well during this time period. Maybe we will get the winter weather party started early again this year ?
  20. This blizzard is absolutely crushing the Dakotas ! Last week a good snow storm hit Montana. I like the fact that cold & snow are moving into the country even outside of the higher mountains this early. The Mid-Atlantic pre season winter thread today had a map of the global snow cover index. Snow coverage looks to be well above normal to date. I realize that the snow cover theory does not always translate into positive winter effects for our own winter pattern, but generally, it can’t hurt our chances either! Here is the current blizzard map in North Dakota! I can’t wait until our time arrives!
  21. Yes! It is here! Frost & Freeze advisories are posted for the northern half of PA! It is time to check out some winter season previews !
  22. I wish that I was in Montana today for that early historic snowstorm! Our time is approaching soon. October is almost here! We could soon be discussing first frost & freeze. I’m starting to really look forward to winter tracking season with all of you!
  23. Snow maps have returned to North America! Our time is coming up soon !
