  1. Yep. Most countries control internet to some extent. When I was in Colombia I can remember access to sites being restricted.
  2. And I don't believe China...either their lock-down method is beyond anything the rest of the world is doing or they're lying.
  3. One of the listed rare side effects of hydroxychloroquine is seizures and cardiovascular myopathy
  4. Being a gym rat probably helped. Increased cardiovascular capacity makes life way easier on your lungs. Really sad news about that nurse, that's way too young.
  5. Thank you for posting. That data show that in the US only one person between the ages of 20-44 has died. I'm betting its not the 25 year old mentioned on twitter...
  6. I hate being a cynic but this sounds fake. I cant find anything on a 25 year old dying from covid-19. The only young healthy death I've found in a wealthy nation is a 21 year old girl from the UK. Not saying it definitely didn't happen, I just don't trust something that seems like an outlier only posted to Twitter. Also not saying to not take this seriously, but panicking helps nothing.
  7. https://www.foxnews.com/us/cuomo-closing-all-businesses-keeping-everyone-home-not-best-public-health-strategy There may be hope for Cuomo...
  8. The big benefit of the economy doing so well is that we’re about to basically print $2T and inflation isn’t going to skyrocket nor the dollar tank against global currency. So if there’s a silver lining...
  9. Because of tax law. Corporations can’t save for a rainy day without paying tax on it. So they either give it back to the employees, stock holders, or capital investments. Only the most profitable companies have sizable cash on hand. Ideally corporations operate at a theoretical break even point. last I checked the money for large corporations will all have to be paid back anyways, only small businesses will have the loans forgiven.
  10. Yup...lets give the place that already charges up to $600 per ticket to see a show $35 Million because some politician made a promise to their constituents instead of using that $35 Million to: Buy respirators Temporary hospitals Uninsured patient reimbursement I could list 35 million things more important here This is exactly what was meant by "drain the swamp". Complete bullshit. Your argument of being such a small percentage of an EMERGENCY STIMULUS PLAN is bullshit.
  11. How do the performing arts help Americans who are out of work or sick? Those corporations you hate so much are who puts Americans to work. Let all the large corporations fail and then see what happens. You are completely clueless as to how the world works.
  12. Watch what happens in India. I’m willing to bet their Casualty numbers surpass the global number in a month...given they at least somewhat accurately report.
  13. This is disgusting...getting millions of dollars for the performing arts as part of the stimulus package? The appropriations text, released Wednesday along with the draft bill itself, includes $25 million in funding for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. That is down from the $35 million that was included in the recent Democratic-proposed House legislation. The Senate bill also provides $75 million to each the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. That is down from the $300 million for each that was in the House stimulus bill.
  14. Not sure what point you’re trying to make. I’ve already read the outline of what the package offers.
  15. Just the opposite. I’m thinking of the greater good. Do you want to sacrifice millions of healthy young people or thousands of the elderly and weak? Nothing to do with my financial situation.
  16. Oh my God. How do you buy groceries when you have no money and the government has no more to give? The 20+% of unemployed who aren’t essential? Then the crime starts, and the first they come to rob are all of the anti gun liberals... @wolfie09
  17. Sorry not sorry kill Grandma. Not because some asshole becomes slightly less rich but because far more people will die if the world remains shutdown. Food doesn’t just magically appear on plates. Other countries economies have failed catastrophically in our lifetimes, ours is no different.
  18. Not a whole lot of action there....when is ampol back up????
  19. I would argue that the data doesn't go back hundreds of years, and that only remotely solid data only goes back 40 years. Automated systems for data gathering have really only widely been available for the past 20 years and economically feasible for mass distribution for the past 10 years. That said i'm not arguing at all against human caused global warming, just posting data that screams the sky is falling. My stance is that doing anything to try to affect the rate of warming at this point is a drop in the pond. All the green initiative here in the states is just nothing to what china and india are doing to the climate, and as Africa experiences a rapid and explosive industrialization over the next 50 years we will be even more negligible. Money better spent would be on relocating people from areas that will either be flooded or protecting low lying areas as water levels rise. Additionally, what if we are wrong and there is some other forcing that is driving climate change? Then all of this time and money that could have been spent on preparing for the worst would have been wasted on trying to prevent it.
  20. I believe in science and I believe that the climate is warming as a result of human influence and that ice coverage will continue to go down because of it. That doesn't change that showing data for only the last 40 years only is misleading, especially as the 70's were notoriously cold.
