  1. This...I could see them claiming Taiwan and other islands in the South China Sea. I think if it were any other country the idea of us getting involved militarily would be highly unpopular given the situation with Covid 19 stateside. Like when Russia annexed Crimea a few years ago. However in this situation I'd say there would be fairly strong support to aggressively push China back, would would quickly escalate... I do vaguely remember reading a book where Russia was forced into retaking the eastern block because 50% of its oil production was destroyed(by the KGB as an excuse), which isnt that far off from whats happening with the oil prices bottoming out.
  2. China basically just sent blankets to the entire world...
  3. This is interesting...or scary depending on how you take it. Recovering from the virus doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t contagious. http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/02/some-covid-19-patients-test-positive-days-after-recovery
  4. This is the part in the movie where fighter jets destroy all of the bridges to manhattan.
  5. The truth is that the sooner that the younger healthy population (you and I) gets this virus and recovers the better for the whole. The caveat in that is that we not spread it To high risk populous.
  6. Until the mortality rate here in the US is higher than that of the median I strongly disagree with you. There was no stopping this once China lost initial containment, only slowing. Currently very few countries have a lower mortality rate than the US.
  7. I never said there were 0 people under 60 being hospitalized, just that the story from twitter about the 25 YO was bs. The story about the 25 YO seemed like a planted fear mongering lie. And based on the fact that at that point there was only 1 death in the US from 18-40 I was most likely right.
  8. India is going to be absolutely horrific. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/india/
  9. Yep. Most countries control internet to some extent. When I was in Colombia I can remember access to sites being restricted.
  10. And I don't believe China...either their lock-down method is beyond anything the rest of the world is doing or they're lying.
  11. One of the listed rare side effects of hydroxychloroquine is seizures and cardiovascular myopathy
  12. Being a gym rat probably helped. Increased cardiovascular capacity makes life way easier on your lungs. Really sad news about that nurse, that's way too young.
  13. Thank you for posting. That data show that in the US only one person between the ages of 20-44 has died. I'm betting its not the 25 year old mentioned on twitter...
  14. I hate being a cynic but this sounds fake. I cant find anything on a 25 year old dying from covid-19. The only young healthy death I've found in a wealthy nation is a 21 year old girl from the UK. Not saying it definitely didn't happen, I just don't trust something that seems like an outlier only posted to Twitter. Also not saying to not take this seriously, but panicking helps nothing.
  15. https://www.foxnews.com/us/cuomo-closing-all-businesses-keeping-everyone-home-not-best-public-health-strategy There may be hope for Cuomo...
  16. The big benefit of the economy doing so well is that we’re about to basically print $2T and inflation isn’t going to skyrocket nor the dollar tank against global currency. So if there’s a silver lining...
  17. Because of tax law. Corporations can’t save for a rainy day without paying tax on it. So they either give it back to the employees, stock holders, or capital investments. Only the most profitable companies have sizable cash on hand. Ideally corporations operate at a theoretical break even point. last I checked the money for large corporations will all have to be paid back anyways, only small businesses will have the loans forgiven.
  18. Yup...lets give the place that already charges up to $600 per ticket to see a show $35 Million because some politician made a promise to their constituents instead of using that $35 Million to: Buy respirators Temporary hospitals Uninsured patient reimbursement I could list 35 million things more important here This is exactly what was meant by "drain the swamp". Complete bullshit. Your argument of being such a small percentage of an EMERGENCY STIMULUS PLAN is bullshit.
  19. How do the performing arts help Americans who are out of work or sick? Those corporations you hate so much are who puts Americans to work. Let all the large corporations fail and then see what happens. You are completely clueless as to how the world works.
  20. Watch what happens in India. I’m willing to bet their Casualty numbers surpass the global number in a month...given they at least somewhat accurately report.
  21. This is disgusting...getting millions of dollars for the performing arts as part of the stimulus package? The appropriations text, released Wednesday along with the draft bill itself, includes $25 million in funding for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. That is down from the $35 million that was included in the recent Democratic-proposed House legislation. The Senate bill also provides $75 million to each the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. That is down from the $300 million for each that was in the House stimulus bill.
  22. Not sure what point you’re trying to make. I’ve already read the outline of what the package offers.
