  1. Just the opposite. I’m thinking of the greater good. Do you want to sacrifice millions of healthy young people or thousands of the elderly and weak? Nothing to do with my financial situation.
  2. Oh my God. How do you buy groceries when you have no money and the government has no more to give? The 20+% of unemployed who aren’t essential? Then the crime starts, and the first they come to rob are all of the anti gun liberals... @wolfie09
  3. Sorry not sorry kill Grandma. Not because some asshole becomes slightly less rich but because far more people will die if the world remains shutdown. Food doesn’t just magically appear on plates. Other countries economies have failed catastrophically in our lifetimes, ours is no different.
  4. Only making a point as to how absurd what you said was, which was that Trump was worst than all three of them. How hard is it concede that you went too far?
  5. Hitler...Stalin...Amin...Should I go on? Granted Trump sounds like an idiot sometimes but to make the statement you're making is over the top. Bush made more gaffs when speaking than Trump.
  6. LOL My political views simply changed. I still think Bush was a horrible president.
  7. Wow...personally attack much? If you look back any post I've made in regards to politics or healthcare rights has been in response to someone else here grandstanding. For the record...Voted for Obama, voted democrat for my locality, wife works in healthcare and sees exactly what i'm talking about(there's an article i linked here about how the unhealthiest ie overweight 50% account for 90% of healthcare costs), and recently helped a close friend also in her 30s get through beating breast cancer. So i'm not some MAGA asshole, but i'm not going to let socialist bullshit I see posted go unchecked. If you believe health care is a right move to a single payer country...Italy sounds real nice right about now.
  8. NY is a complete mess and your’re the lazy idiot if you think this report didn’t recommend we get more ventilators. It offers triage as the alternative, exactly what we’re trying to avoid. https://www.health.ny.gov/regulations/task_force/reports_publications/docs/ventilator_guidelines.pdf i didn’t post anything about trump for the record, I simply refuted the idea that Cuomo is doing a great job. Last week was a tire fire, and this week he’s lashing out at the president over the idea of getting people back to work. god...you’re probably one of the people at Sumitomo bitching that they have to work right now... https://www.wivb.com/news/tire-company-says-it-received-state-permission-to-remain-open/
  9. Had Cuomo listened to his team of experts 5 years ago he wouldn't be begging for federal help right now finding respirators. https://nypost.com/2020/03/19/we-didnt-have-to-have-ventilator-shortage-leaders-chose-not-to-prep-for-pandemic/
  10. The other thing to remember that I've mentioned preciously is that America can shut down and for the most part keep its people fed and with water. Many other countries arent so fortunate. For example the islands in the Caribbean have populations on land masses that aren't self sustaining, with no source of income(Tourism) we will see starvation and elevated crime within a fairly short period of time if the world stays shuttered. The same can be said of many other countries. For those here who have traveled the common saying we've heard among foreigners in respect to the US is that when our economy gets a cold they get the Flu. For these reasons I think the thinking at the top right now is to weigh the deaths due to Covid 19 vs a complete shutdown. A prolonged complete shutdown could lead to more deaths than the virus due to starvation and crime.
  11. I'm 100% behind supporting those who cant provide for themselves, ie the weak as you put it. But being poor isn't necessarily not for a lack of effort on that persons part. My stance is to help those who cant help themselves, but increase handouts to the level of socialism and you're enabling. Its why socialism fails.
  12. The system isn't broken, just look at the rest of the world. While we can strive to be better our standard of living surpasses 95% of the global population. People like yourself take that for granted. Anyone in a position of actual power got there by beating someone else, so in general they have the same attitude towards working hard to get ahead. Some of those people are even willing to gain votes by appealing to people like yourself with free handouts. You think that they have the same ideals as you when really they're just doing whats necessary to stay in their position of power.
  13. Literally LOL'd at this. Instead of working your ass off to get a job that pays well you'd rather point your finger at the people who worked their asses off and say its all a conspiracy to keep you down... I came from absolutely NOTHING. I saw first hand the only thing free handouts does is enable lazy ass people to continue to be lazy. Food stamps are sold for pennies on the dollar to pay for drugs. EIC tax refunds pay for drugs. This is why the zip code you're born in is the number one indicator of your income as an adult. Work hard and make the most of every opportunity given to you. Don't piss away $40k on a liberal arts degree. Stop blaming everyone else for your lack of success. As for the rest of your point media on both sides is biased, so don't take "truth in the middle" so damn literally.
  14. Did you not read the entire transcript? Or watch the entire exchange? There were two questions, the second of which was shouted out of turn. I know hes an asshole. What I don't have a stomach for is people like you who only get their news from CNN and don't ask the question "why" when shit like this happens. Try something...start reading a minimum of three outlets for your news and see how your perspective changes. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.
  15. I already conceded that Trump mispoke on FDA approving chloroquine...not sure who's being closed minded on what.
  16. You have to have the whole story to have context, you cant just start at Alexanders second question which was shouted over his colleague: The spat started when Alexander asked Trump if his “impulse to put a positive spin on things” could be giving Americans a “false sense of hope” amid the pandemic. The president explained he had a “good feeling” about possible solutions the FDA is working on. “Let’s see what happens, we have nothing to lose,” Trump said. Alexander interrupted the next reporter who was called on, shouting, “What do you say to Americans who are scared?” I have no issue with Trump calling out Alexander. He was unprofessional and baiting. I don't agree with everything Trump has done or said, but what you posted is exactly what I mean by bullshit.
  17. If you clink the link that this fact checking article cites it appears that they contradict themselves. Nowhere do I see where it says that Trump claimed the FDA approved its use for Covid-19, he said he was working with the FDA to fast track it. If I’m wrong I’ll eat my words but I’m so tired of this bullshit. edit. Read the whitehouse transcript and I’ll eat my words. Still tired of bullshit politics during the greatest threat to society since WW2.
  18. Not sure what it’s like by you but here food production is running full tilt. I work for a place that sells parts for the food and beverage industry and most places are currently running non stop. Most places are making it their duty to keep America fed.
  19. I have a hard time believing China actually stopped spread within its country. I also think India is going to be a complete catastrophe.
  20. I wouldn't believe a thing the Chinese say right now.
  21. @BuffaloWeather I don’t wanna keep going back and forth on the issue, I appreciate everything you contribute to this forum and to each their own on socioeconomic opinions.
  22. They would have qualified for Medicare and I would have to know the specifics to be sure but they should have qualified to pay nothing. Sorry but I grew up in the city on miller ave and broadway in the east side and I saw first hand what happens when you enable people to do nothing and get free handouts. Give out universal healthcare and it will just get worse. This country rewards those that work their asses off, not those who ask for handouts.
  23. Not to beat a dead horse but you know that you can’t be denied treatment and the first thing a hospital does if you come uninsured is get you setup with Medicaid, right? While there are exceptions what you describe as ruined for life is the rare case. This is coming from a fellow gym rat who grew up on public assistance.
  24. C'mon really? You think its ok to be glutenous and expect your fellow citizens to pick up the tab? That has everything to do with healthcare. Spend all the money you would have spent on universal healthcare and spend it on programs to educate healthy living. Treat the problem instead of putting a band-aid on it. (if we did go full on communist you wouldn't have the option to be obese as food would be rationed)
