  1. Dana Whites idea somehow reminds me of the movie The Island...
  2. Anyone else notice how inconsistent reporting is in some other countries? Here is France for example. Today they're already approaching 12k new cases. On the 4th they reported an additional 18k cases that were unreported from nursing homes.
  3. Plus they're plenty of people who will take the extra money and work side jobs off the books.
  4. That's sad. I remember back in 08/09 hearing my dad and his friends talk about how they were taking advantage of the extended unemployment at that time. And just last week we interviewed someone who said they were going to have to decline because they'd rather be on unemployment making $1100 a week doing nothing than $1200+ a week working a job.
  5. Something happened with data correction yesterday. This morning new cases for yesterday was about 80k. Now it’s 101k new cases globally yesterday.
  6. This is only in Italy and only with the entire country locked down, correct?
  7. I have a feeling games will be played with no fans this fall...
  8. I cant wait till the day I can watch a series on HBO but what really happened in China...I'm betting its worse than Chernobyl. Best case scenario(realistic):
  9. Yep. And the curve in places like Italy is only flat lining while keeping everyone locked down. Release the restrictions and you'll see the new per day spike again.
  10. The end game strategy right now isn't eradication but herd immunity. Ultimately 60% or more of the global population will become infected. Once the rate of infection levels off and slows shouldn't we purposely inoculate healthy young adults who are able to quarantine while ill?
  11. Could have been child’s health plus that covered it. One way or another the it’s in the hospitals best interest to find a program that works. They can’t deny care if it’s non profit. As far as long term care goes you’re right, the cost is insurance cost prohibitive for many. This is going to sound insensitive but I think you have to plan for it. My wife’s family members that ended up in long term care paid out of pocket from their life savings and assets. My family members who end up in long term care will all become wards of the state. When you die ideally you should have as close to $0 as possible, taking money to the grave does nothing for you.
  12. Meanwhile... https://www.wivb.com/health/coronavirus/bluecross-blueshield-waiving-out-of-pocket-costs-for-coronavirus-testing-and-treatment/
  13. “The bank’s goal is to slash application volume by as much as 75%.” why are you so cynical? That’s the actual quote. And it makes sense. Weed out the unqualified. Processing applications takes time and money and you’re going to get a ton of people living paycheck to paycheck applying because we shut down the whole country. Why give a bunch of money to people with no jobs whose homes are depreciating?
  14. It wasn’t 7 million...and his professional knowledge/experience is coming from someone who is going to try selling you insurance...I’ll literally bet you $100 the bill was nowhere near $7M.
  15. 1.Still would have qualified for Medicaid in PA 2. $7M is gross exageration. Look up healthcare costs. She also exagerated when she said that people just end up dying because they cant afford it. Thats illegal. You cant be denied services from a non-profit hospital based on ability to pay. 3. My mistake, I thought previously you had something here about wanting that. I'm sorry. 4. I wouldn't consider myself a staunch republican, just someone who cant let blatant BS go unchecked. Too many people take what they hear or see as fact without questioning the source. What you posted was an attack on a medical system which right now is doing a better job at most at handling this pandemic. Healthcare CEOs and the wealthy aren't out to get you, most are doing to the best of their ability to competitively run a business. Furthermore the rates at which people are charged for services are set by Medicaid limits, so CEOs cant conspire to over bill your 70 year old friend even if they wanted to.
  16. Few things here. First...the $7M number is grossly exaggerated. If he were in the ICU for six months receiving the highest level of car and getting a liver transplant would have cost just under $2M. 2nd in NYS Medicaid would have covered both of them as they’re over 65. 3rd..they both received treatment. Even if the bill was $7M. So they’re getting the free healthcare that you’re asking for. I’m guessing that they had no assets or income to seize otherwise they probably would have been paying for private healthcare insurance in addition to Medicaid. Nobody is robbing anyone. Healthcare puts a lot of hardworking people to work and in WNY is the largest single source of employment. Right now they're putting their lives in danger and you’re here bitching about some fable your 70 year old friend is telling people for attention.
  17. I don’t think this is the last of the crazy coming out... who knew that “train wrecking” was a charge lol.
  18. This data set is also a misrepresentation. It’s simply new cases as a percentage of total cases and doesn’t take in account the total available infectable population. Outside of the New York metro area the US is doing extremely well in slowing the spread.
  19. You have to be careful where you get your data from. This graph misrepresents what is actually happening because its comparing China who grossly under reported along with two countries who are only 1/6th as populous as the US. So on day 16 when Spain has 60k cases for an apples to apples comparison the US should have 300k on day 16.
  20. I would not be surprised if it were double those numbers in a week from now. Its just starting to spread through India...
