    Exactly what I was about to say but in all fairness, they likely have the toughest forecasting region East of the Mississippi hence why they're habitually thorough.

    I think you can extend that eastern heavy snow boundary all the way to the escarpment but overall a good sign. The latest ICON run looked good for WNC as well.

    To be fair to Met, the mountains have had a few decent snow events during those years.

    No offense taken, I get that's your relationship to the mountains of NC but what's funny to me is the High Country feels less mountainous than the areas you don't associate with the mountains. Yes, you're higher elevation but there's more waterfalls, rocky terrain and overall mountainous features in the Southern Mountains of the Pisgah/Nantahala and Smoky Mountain regions.

    I just got one question Met: Why are we posting foliage pics in the Spring/Summer thread?! Somebody has to fire up the Fall/Winter thread and if there is any hope for a decent winter in WNC, it can't be me.

    Saw this on Saturday from the Ingles in Mills River looking back towards Edneyville. This is the Poplar Fire up on Green Mountain that is now up to nearly 500acres. Hopefully we'll get some rain this week.

    Yep. Add to that 10-20 mph winds with higher gusts. Going to be downright chilly!

    Looks very nice. Wind chills shouldn't leave the 50's the entire weekend. Low temps, low DP's, cool breeze, can't wait!
