76 at bdl is about right.

    Torch. It's always spring there.

Just went outside, its downright nasty out. Roads are icy, slushy. Driveways and sidewalks are literally a sheet of ice. Grass is crunchy, looking at the ice around small tree branches it looks to be about .2 or 1/4" of ice or so. so far... we are hovering around 30F

Chris, lots of peeps go to bed before 11 pm, and they went to bed with a 3-6 inch snow accumulation call for a lot interior SNE.

Then at 11 pm, the forecast was changed and downgraded to 1-3 inches, and that’s gonna bust too.  This was a horrible performance by modeling...plain and simple.

And That’s my point...sure you can keep changing with every model run of the HRRR etc etc in a situation like this...but that doesn’t help the 99% of the general public who’s definitely not watching every model run every hour.

I had you in the C-2 range for most of CT that will work out well. I was one of the most conservative on the snowfall last night and i know no one liked it but that's the reality. Fact of the matter is im going to bust high in the 2-4 range for far northern CT. Ice map will be pretty good, glad i didn't go to crazy with that either.

Here's some of the latest PNS statements which will fill in as we go on throughout the day from the LFOs.

Yeah. Not sure anyone would have gone C-1 statewide so late in the evening though after the earlier trends in the day toward a good front end. Whiplash.

My snow forecast will go down but I think the icing piece will save me a bit. I communicated more on that being the main show rather than the snow that never arrived.

I did as well, people always focus on the snow amounts. And C-2 is a joke, i said dont worry about that its all about the ICE.

    How’s the icing down there?

Great call on going for a coating for many. I got cooked on snowfall even as I hedged lower for northern CT because of how quickly the flip usually happens. :axe:

Yea i think my snowfall and ice map will actually be pretty good. C-2 was right on, probably should have been C-1 though.

I haven't gone outside and measured it but it looks pretty bad, id say probably a 1/4 so far. Going off ASOS MMK and HVN its probably around there.

Lol..you mean SW to NE?   Just like two weeks ago to me...an hour or two of snow..then ice. Still snow here but radar looks like trash upstream, big hole coming and all shredded.

No. i meant NW to SE, i see why you asked me though. I was referring to the orientation of the line, not the direction it was travelling.

I'm on call again and here's what I went with. Really think snow is not the story here in CT, as we go from thump to sleet/ZR. Had to go into more detail in the text forecast as I think the 5" spots are along the border and higher icing amounts are near the southern end of the 2-5" zone.

Still thinking this is a moderate (shoreline) to high (inland) impact event overall due to timing, early morning snow rates, and icing potential. Could have went with three zones, but decided against that. No time or personal map making experience to go with a separate icing map.

Just a great night to be a weenie. Nothing like prepping for a winter storm by munching on edibles and watching/reading anxiety pour onto keyboards amongst my fellow brethren’s as regardless of what transpires...it will feel and look like winter tomorrow. Fights will break out as to which model won, it always happens. Someone will get skunked, it always happens. It just better not be me or I’ll berate a mothufukkan nws office or strangle my neighbors cat, just enough to relieve some anger but not enough to kill...cuz I love animals. Just a great night to be a weenie.

    Just sayin..

Noticing a marked warming trend at 850 on the HRRR, it seems to have halted this current run though. QPF cut back a bit as well
