DCA, along with likely logging another 97+ day, has been hanging around 107-110 for the heat index most of the day. Here, our dewpoint has been around 80F all day - it's literally arresting when you step outside.

DCA is 91/77 with a HI of 105 at 11 am. Goodness. 89/80 here in Tenleytown.

Lol there is a video of Trudeau going for a run on the Mall at around 7am this morning (DCA was 84/75 at that moment) - hope my dude brought some water.

I believe it - DCA maxed out at 110 I believe (at least on the hourly ob). Here we were between 110 and 115 most of the afternoon. Right now Quantico is 88/80 with a HI of 104. Nasty stuff.

DC and Arlington already had a city/county-wide boil water advisory last week because of an algae bloom in the Potomac (from hot/dry conditions). Definitely concerned about the general water supply at this point.

Yeah the incidence of 80+ lows in DC was basically 0 until about the 1980s, and it has risen significantly since then. Via Ian on Bluesky:

DCA briefly dipped to 79F early this AM, so the 80s streak is over at 3 straight nights. But it's oppressive out. DCA is 88/76 at 10am while in Tenley we are at 89/79 for a HI of 104F. It's 10 am folks!!

that's an all-timer right there - although if we stay this dry, something like that wouldn't be a big stretch.

85F at 1am at DCA. 97/80 on the day, another 80F low.

97 at DCA for the high, 90F at 8pm.

98/81 on the books at DCA (temp of 89F at 1am). Another 80+ low.

90F officially at midnight at DCA is absolutely obscene. This is some of the most intense nighttime warmth I've experienced, especially given the high of only 98F.
