Snowfall NYC subforum Jan 6 and OBS if needed
dseagull replied to wdrag's topic in New York City Metro
The modeled confluence days ahead of this event was shockingly accurate, and credit should be given where it is earned, regardless of 100 mile jumps with precipitation shield placement. Just through looking at radar evolution and DP/RH readings, I think we are witnessing what will likely wind up resulting in lower-end totals shifting considerably further south than we expected. Edit: But it does appear that the readings are beginning to rise further wsw. Maybe I spoke to soon about radar artificacts with the virga. (Just got off the phone with my father in Salem county. He said the precipitation wall in regards to the radar/virga was short lived. It is now snowing moderately and all surfaces are instantly seeing accumulating snow.) As a result, im going to cancel my hunting trip in Salem county, and remain on the coast. No need to put myself or dog at risk in an area that doesn't treat roads very well, especially when folks are heading out for the morning rush. -
Does anyone know if/where sampling site maps are outside of US borders are for Baja region? Cabo? I've always been interested in any resources that are made public for data ingestion.

Ill make a deal with you. I'll leave my boats in the water until we are under WSW along the coast. I'll coax the beast in. ...then I'll panic quickly hauling and blocking them all with an impending bomb.

Not our last chance either. We have waited a few years for this sort of tracking. Life is good.

Verbatim, that would be a dream scenario and close enough for BM dreaming for the next few days.

Couldn't agree more. It comes from the top. Absolutely. Its also illogical, which is what eats at me. Perhaps a discussion for another thread (where we may also discuss the over-use of State-Of-Emergency powers that are apparently now needed to "secure funding" or "allocate resources." Plenty of us are old enough to remember how efficient we were before new governmental procedures became normalized. -

Beginning to look towards the next threat. What i would do for 09-10 and 10-11 back to back yearly snow events. I paid for the entirety of a brand new 2500 HD Diesel and new decks for the other trucks just from plowing those seasons during my holiday and/or leave time. -

Surface reports show the virga is real with this one. -

And now brine and salt budgets are abused. "Use it or lose it," government waste mentality. It's disgusting. -

Just got back from the grocery store. You'd think a massive blizzard was taking aim. It's a little but disturbing how easily people get into a frenzy when they simply hear "SNOW." I am glad I have 4WD... need it to safely get through the 3 inches of salt on the roads. Hahah -
1/6 snowstorm - nuisance event or something bigger?

Same down here on Barnegat Bay. They clearly see something that isn't progged by models. Has me a bit confused, but they're the pros. -

The one where guns, gun dogs, and snow make me a happy man and my pup a tired boy! Praying for a week of constant wing-folding with snow covered ground. Only had 2 days blasting birds last year with snow cover. -

Id have to rethink my scheduled bird hunt with my dog in SW Salem county if that were to verify. Leave the shotgun at home and take the dog sled. Not sure he would appreciate that end of the deal. -

I have seen the state of this country. Big government is part of what put us here. America will always be for me, through the good and bad times. I swore an oath to uphold the constitution, and those who came before me who died protecting the rights you take take forgranted, would say the same if they were still on this side of the dirt. Have a good new year. Enjoy your GOD given rights.

1. Wants the government to restrict. 2. Wants to censor information. Got it.... America may not be for you, sparky.

As it stands currently, I think I'm looking at the far northern fringe of the 3 inch line here in Barnegat, NJ. You concurr? Disappointing as hell for snow, but it's going to save me 8 collective hours of covering up my boats. -

I guess I'm not wrong with my confusion. It's clear that many people do not agree on the lines, which makes for difficult interpretation of forecast for those of us in the overlap. I guess my former home in salem county may as well have been called Alabama. For this storm, I'm primarily trying to decide if I should get the work boats covered up or not. Once more than 2-4 inches of snow collects on the decks, its surprisingly difficult to de-ice fore safe operation if i recieve a call for a boater or duck hunter in distress. Covering them is not as easy of a task as one would believe, and takes 30-45 minutes to uncover as well.
