  1. The storms over the Yucatan peninsula attained overshooting tops of -90C by my estimation, based on the color scale (bottom of this image). Based on models, this tropical atmosphere had an equilibrium level of 15 kilometers, at -70C.
  2. There are possible tornadoes near Wells, MN and Rowan, IA right now. The storm cells is so small, the moderate/heavy rain may be falling in a 2mi x 4mi corridor in both.
  3. My place may have gotten 0.8" or better. It was fairly cool, with no thunder and lightning. It's a pretty nice to have a day of gentle rain. It helps the plants and crops to have the water sink into the soil. There is not a quick water runoff and the soil is cool. The water doesn't immediately evaporate.
  4. pretty cool pic/video from near Post, TX
  5. Genoa tornado 1-hr rotation track (MRMS)
  6. Today has certainly had some excitement, with 6 zones of severe weather.
  7. This storm may have had two simultaneous tornadoes, but if not, this is still kind of a crazy velocity image
  8. confirmed tornado near Post, Texas. large and extremely dangerous tornado was located 11 miles southeast of Grassland, or 13 miles southwest of Post The base velocity looks kind of awesome on this one.
  9. The circulation near Joliet has weakened somewhat. If there was/is a tornado, it could have been near the intersection of I-55 and I-80, and possibly along the section of I-80 just east of Minooka.
  10. This video has been making the rounds on Twitter -- a great funnel and debris cloud. I don't know how wide this is, but it's obviously not a wedge. So I guess that's kind of good, less total damage.
  11. Supercells are popping up all over the place near Fort Smith AR.
  12. There has been a tornado reported near Monroe, OK, which is probably what you were talking about? South of Fort Smith AR. New tornado warning near Mansfield AR, just to the northeast of the other storm, which still has a tornado warning.
  13. A tornado was reported on the northern storm, near Petrolia (0027z)
  14. There's a new tornado warning east of Burkburnett. The original supercell regenerated the circulation.
  15. I think this could be a large rain-wrapped tornado now, based on radar
  16. a storm near Columbia SC may have 2" - 3" hail in it.
  17. I guess this is the rotational signature west of Belmont, NC
  18. 14 tornado reports yesterday was the highest daily total since 4/23.
  19. By the way, you and I got pictures of the same storm from a different perspective last night. (See Mountain West discussion)
  20. Confirmed tornado outside of Garden City, KS with much more of a mesocyclone (within a blob of storms) compared to landspouts with a few storms before.
  21. Holly, CO is under a tornado warning. There was one confirmed tornado southwest of the town. Holly had a direct tornado hit in 2007, so I hope nothing happens.
  22. There was a bow echo that tracked northward to the Canadian border. At one point, there was an embedded circulation in the middle that had a tornado warning. It's pretty weird to see a bow echo not tracking eastward or southeastward.
  23. I drove down the road to get a clear shot of this storm east of Fort Collins.
  24. Yesterday, we had wind gusts of 30mph , up to 50mph at Denver, from the southeast. Today, Fort Collins has a dew point of 54, and SPC mesoanalysis shows 2000 J/kg of CAPE, although probably no rain will happen. The CAPE should shift up to Wyoming for the severe weather risk later. Edit: We've been drylined. The moisture is shifting to Wyoming.
