  1. what is even happening inside this very wide circulation?
  2. This could be a strong tornado in western Alabama, but the radar is not very close to this. I do not see evidence of a TDS on the CC scan.
  3. I am seeing a tornado report at 1 WNW of West Columbia
  4. As an interesting side note, it says there is an 80% chance of 10 or more severe hail events/ 80% chance of 1 or more 2" hail reports. Last Sunday, there were just a few hail reports in all of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia combined.
  5. So that didn't happen. Low temps of 6 -14 in Loveland.
  6. The USAF flyover did not quite go as planned. I drove down toward Eisenhower Blvd at 12:45. I was expecting to see the jets from 12:50 to 1:00. I finally gave up on it and came home. I heard some distant jets at 1:45.
  7. 3/15/2008 is a possible analog( listed as #3 analog) on CIPS (run: 4/17, 12z) I thought it was a better match to the low pressure area than the #1 analog. You better hope this storm report map doesn't happen. Interestingly the top analog is 4/6/82, a well-known blizzard from Chicago to Boston. other analogs:
  8. Yesterday was the 9-year anniversary of some terrible tornadoes in NC, including this one that went through the city of Raleigh. I downloaded some data from NOAA to make this map. I hope this never happens again. The year of 2011 just had a way of making tornadoes go through cities.
  9. NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. – The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron “Thunderbirds” will honor Colorado’s front line COVID-19 responders with a series of community flyovers following the U.S. Air Force Academy’s commencement flyover on April 18, 2020.
  10. visible satellite from this morning, before much of the snow melted
  11. You may wan to edit the image, repost image, something like that. Global models generally have a low pressure near Texarkana on Sunday, 18z, with a 500mb shortwave axis west of Dallas, moving eastward quickly. The low pressure will move toward Mississippi.
  12. I measured 9.2" The light wind is knocking a lot of snow off the tree branches. All the tree branches have 3" on them. Edit: 10.5"
  13. My place has had snow accumulating since maybe 9:00 last night. I think I have 8", but I will need to measure.
  14. You know, this is a real year for snow around here. And don't put away the snow shovels yet. Every model has snow for the Front Range cities on Thursday. You know things are bad when the UKMET and Euro predict heavy snow in April.
  15. Storm-based warnings for the last 3 days. I heard there were 141 tornado warnings in 24 hours.
  16. My place got 6" -- the true snowfall total over these last two days may be 7". Nice fluffy snow on top.
  17. Not sure if anybody replied Here's what I use
  18. So this is the 2nd or 3rd or 4th tornado to climb the Appalachians today? Sounds like April 3-4th 1974, when a tornado went over a mountain in West Virginia.
  19. My place may have gotten 2-3" today, in total. I have been tracking tornadoes all day, so I only checked it a couple of times.
  20. This may have been the best rotational velocities near Cullman AL (02:04z), that is, 15 minutes ago.
  21. CC has lowered near LaFayette, GA-- seems to be correlated to rotation on SRV
  22. Rotation at Blanche, AL and Little River, AL still looks impressive.
  23. tornado-warned storm in the area of Gadsden has been impressive for several minutes. I am not sure if there has been any tornado.
