I'd feel a whole lot better if we could get some consistent hits on operational runs. Gem is the only one with that right now, and it only has 2 decent runs in a row.
I had a longer post that I decided to erase, so I'll leave it at that for now.
Yeah but how are you gonna have any consistent hits that far out? Not like models are gonna key in on a specific wave from what...12 days out? Lol

@Ralph Wiggum before you start a panic can we wait and see. I’m on the record sharing your concern. But if it’s true that strong high latitude blocks will continue to link to a SER the whole time we might as well just give up and stop tracking because that’s how we get 90% of both our HECS storms and BIG snow seasons. So what are we even doing here if you think it won’t work anymore? Let’s see how it plays out.
So when do you think we'll know at the end whether that unfortunate feature is gonna pop up again? Later this week, perhaps?

@psuhoffmanI really hope we don't have to, but have been getting a sickening feeling for 3 days now....you're gonna need to dig that log book out my friend.
Maaan I don't wanna talk about PSU's logbook unless the fail scenario was perfect track rain or a -nao-+SER linkup or something. If some other random junk gets in the way ala 2018, that would be another story.

Tell me where I'm wrong in my summary of what goes on here. I did not put this on the main thread, btw. This is banter and we can so that here. I'm legit explaining why it's like that because you spoke on it. You've been complaining about this forum for years as if it's gonna change something--folks here are the way they are.
Simply: People here are emotional about snow. That's not gonna change. So you're better off just accepting that and not expecting anything else!

Indeed. Even so...seeing as it's just getting established perhaps it won't be as strong as it was that day, and things tick north some. Orrrr I could be just wish casting

This current storm thread has added more people to my ignore list than the last 10 years combined lol
CHILL YALL. We don't need to know your every waking thought
It's an emotional hobby--it's gonna happen. And really it's not so much a hobby as just really wanting snow. This forum isn't gonna rise to your expectations, man...Folks are emotional in their want for snow in their backyard and that's just kinda how it is. Most of us are like that to a degree, but some handle it better than others!

I wouldn't count on a North trend. This year has been different so far.
I would love a North trend but not sure how much we get of one.
North trend hasn't happened in years, it feels like...at least not since 2019. Last month there was one modeled but that banding materialized way north, smh
I guess I ought just set my expectation at 3-5"?

Agree on this, the QDF field just doesn't have the same northward extent but its jackpot zones stay around the same.
Seems like the windshield wiper radius is decreasing...Last 48 hours tracking these things it's hard for me to know what's noise vs. a trend.

I have no issue cutting snow map totals in half where I am. Still would be a 4” snow and I’m happy with that.
Hope everyone north and south see a snow they can be happy with. The bickering is so dumb
I mean here in Baltimore I'm not sure I break the streak of not measuring 6", but I'm getting accustomed to still appreciating the scenery, at least. But I sure would love to reach that mark though

Looks like a low end warning event of 4" - 7" for everyone?
That seems like a reasonable call.

I don’t think Baltimore city did as well… maybe 4-5 inches max
Yep. That's the 2nd time during this stretch that even BWI did better than Baltimore...oof!

????? Baltimore (bwi) got 6.6 in the January storm this year as well.
Yes BWI--which is 15 miles south of me. I'm in northern Balt. city. So in my literal yard? We got about 5 (more from that secondary burst that came that night)

Is this accurate for Baltimore City? Wow.
Yes. Now the only caveat is Jan 2022. OFFICIALLY, BWI measured 6.1". But we didn't make that here in the city itself (I think I measured 4"). It has been a pretty brutal stretch...while this may be the best 9-year stretch DC/NOVA has had when it comes to jackpotting.
So now you see why those of us in that area have been more frustrated!

Bro. Who really cares? I mean lets be honest....
Yeah I mean there was literally no measurable snowfall here to add to anything--so that's all the next storm!

So for Baltimore (city)...what's the best guess for both parts of the systems? (real answers please, lol)
