Good morning, I R, as you can see the one resident maple as viewed from the postage stamp and cushioned by brick and mortar is essentially all green, this middle of October. Nature will eventually send the change, drop and sleep signal. Until then, I’ll watch the seeming evergreen maple and review the lyrics sung by an illustrious frog, Bein’ Green. As always .....

Thank you H man you jogged a pleasant memory. My Vicenza and I were on our honeymoon trip, July 1973. We were on our way back from The Summit resort and enjoying the ride in my 72 Plymouth Satellite. I always wanted to go to Jungle Habitat. My bride had always liked but had a fear of animals. I said this might help us both, well on the safari train cruising at 5mph, windows closed, I had to stop to let a rather large bull rhino cross the road. The Jeep with the two armed guard/attendants were parked in their wrangler by the distant gate. The rhino stopped and turned to face my gently purring car. Whether he thought it was a potential rival or mate I will never know. He started stepping towards us and the Jeep came to life, luckily Fate intervened and after a closer look at the Plymouth the rhino turned and sauntered off. He probably thought he could do better. My bride would have forgiven me that one if I hadn’t tried to get her to feed the animals. She had the feed in her hand but just couldn’t do it. I said it s okay just stand in front of that bamboo fence put your hand out holding the feed and I’ll take a picture of you. To this day I swear I didn’t know there was an adolescent elephant in an enclosure on the other side of the fence. With its nubile trunk it reached over and gently whooshed up the feed from her outstretched hand. I caught her before she’d had run too far. Her screaming was drowned out by laughter. Not mine, I knew better. Later on, heaven bless her she laughed also. Thank you again for helping me remember a happier time. As always ....

The postage stamp is home to a large oak, a small maple and two tiny plums. None of them have yet to give the slightest indication of summers end. The way it’s going they will probably drop their leaves out of habit, even though every one will still be green. As always ....

I’m old, I R and even through this magnificent stretch of weather I’ve left my front window open. The invigorating morning low temperature forces me and my blood ( however much I have left ) to get moving as I venture into the wilds of my NYC postage stamp and endure the harsh 48 degree chill. As always ....

I was handed another find from my hall renovation. Several pages including the back page of the Tuesday, April 28th edition of the New York Daily News, 2 cents. 84 years ago the daily circulation was 1.6 million and Sunday was 2.9 million. Never see those numbers again. I’ve attached six pages including the back page. The pages show a highlight of the stock market still in depression/recovery mode, comics like Moon Mullins and Smitty, baseball articles, including one on the Yankees that mentions a young rookie named Joe DiMaggio. The back page, usually reserved for sports shows a picture of a battle cruiser heading to Panama for what I presume were war games. The winds of war were certainly blowing in 1936 and even a still neutral UnitedStates could feel the chill. As always....

I played softball there also during the same time period. My mom would take me to the playground when I was 4 or 5. Thank goodness the park was on the east side of 7th Avenue or Robert Moses would have destroyed it also. As always ....

A wonderful Video memory. I was living on 75th Street right off 11th Avenue. I was 14 and like you did not have to use sunscreen on my head. The folks, so natural, the decorations, lights on the house. The quadruple headlights on our space age designed cars. A wonderful time. Thank you, as always .......

Instead it’s when Lou, alone, was in a frightening situation and he began laughing. He laughed even while interacting with the danger. Movies of that time on another page. Finally my favorite Bohack adds. Tenderloin butts (75 cents a pound) was more than Prime Rib (69 cents a pound) I also remember that part of the tin mans leg, in the movie version of The Wiz, was a Bohack coffee can. Unc, I was hoping to find an A&P ad, haven’t yet. As always....
