    I ignore ensemble snow means unless I see pink and purple. Everything else is noise that won’t verify.

    The single digit lows on Thursday will be brutal. December will be a mixed bag. So it depends on the definition of prime winter. If we’re talking snow, it’s been a decade of decline. Maybe things change.

    I wouldn’t be so sure about that. I think the distribution will certainly be narrow. The mountain West, far north states, and the northeast away from the coast will probably rack up some snow. Great Lakes folks outside of the snowbelt will have to wait until January. We will however get a few rounds of liquid snow so at least we have that.

    Absolutely! With sunshine! Like the many Georgia Christmases I enjoyed before moving to Naperville .

    Problem is the trough position with every cold press is lousy and poorly timed. .

    So we get the same pattern we just had? Yuck…hope that’s wrong.

    I just hope that means the jet sets up a more favorable clipper pattern.

    Admittedly I’ll take mid to upper 30’s and threading the needle over this miserable northwest flow. At least we have a chance. I’ll also take low 50’s and sunny like this upcoming Sunday!!

    As much as I hate to disturb a pity party, the system for next Tuesday/Wednesday bears watching. Goofus wants to throw us a bone in northern Illinois. Slows the wave outbid the southwest down enough to catch some cold air.

    Well things are going swimmingly in this forum.

    The system next week is one to watch for trends. It was a tick slower and northwest on the GFS. After that some good opportunities for some beneficial rain.

    Also this isn’t the worst scenario to score some winter weather for some of us in western Great Lakes. .

    The good news is we warm up to normal and even above normal by mid-month [emoji120]. Ensembles look GREAT! I hope we are spared this worthless northwest flow for the foreseeable future!

    Also…all this clipper talk is highly overblown. Hoping to go back to that awesome weather we had in early November!

    Was thinking, if I had a snow machine, I’d be killing it right now with winter scenery. Keep the driveway and walkways clean too! Maybe I can barter my snowblower for one!
