  1. Rapid clearing behind the storm has led to the formation of fog here. With temps already falling into the 20s, starting to see a bit of glaze on some elevated surfaces that were cleared of the snow.
  2. Interesting. My 4" came in almost exactly 4 hours, so I'd say rates were consistently good for the duration.
  3. Its a bit unusual for my total to be that much higher than yours. There have been some nice bands here today. I guess that made the difference ? Maybe you will hang on a while longer than me, being east of here. Do you know what your elevation is there ?
  4. Just reached 4" for the day. 5.7" on the season passes the total I received in 2008-09.
  5. Back edge looks to be through Cumberland now. Unless it pivots, that usually means an hour left here.
  6. 1.5” on the snow board. 32 degrees.
  7. 32/21. Per radar, I shouldn't have too long to wait for the snow to begin.
  8. I've jumped from 29.4 to 32.5 the past hour with a freshening breeze. Still no clouds to speak of though, so hopefully winds die back off later tonight.
  9. You're in a tough spot there with virtually no elevation and 43° Bay water all around. But this one has a lot of cold throughout the column and QPF has been increasing for your area all day. Hope you can join in the accumulations tomorrow.
  10. 33/14. Temp is dropping like a rock here. Lost 4 more degrees in the past hour.
  11. LWX upped my point forecast from 'up to an inch' to 'around an inch'. Must have seen the 18Z suite.
  12. Had a high of 50 here today but already down to 41 with crystal clear skies and diminishing winds. DP is down to 14 !
  13. No backing down on the brine out this way. I 81 has all lanes brined from Winchester to here.
  14. Had some flurries blow through earlier. Temp is 35 and hasn’t budged since sunrise. Winds still gusting to 40+
  15. Most extreme event was a microburst that hit my neighborhood on 8/18. Definitely not a "favorite" event because it left some pretty costly damage.
  16. I've kinda been expecting a dog of a winter this year. We have been on a pretty good heater here for a while. I have averaged 33.8" for the past 10 winters vs a long-term average of around 26". Five of those winters have been greater than that 33" average. Just been hoping for a 15-20" type season and not one of those 5-10" years.
  17. Wife and kids and I biked about 15 miles on the Western Maryland Rail Trail on Christmas Eve. Weather was perfect for that kind of ride. If you ever have a chance to get up this way, it's a beautiful (paved) 26-mile path that parallels the C & O Canal.
  18. 5th day in a row here with a high temp in the 30's, and 8 of the last 10 days. MRB has (temporarily) gone below-normal for the month now.
  19. When the STJ got cranking mid-January it was a lot of fun. There was a 1-2" rainstorm on Sunday into Monday, followed by the heavy wet snow on Thursday. Then the bottom fell out of the temps. The second snowstorm on Sunday that fringed your area started with temps in the teens, and afterward there were a couple of below-zero nights outside of the cities. I had 12"+ from both of the storms in Silver Spring.
  20. Coldest morning of the season so far. 14.8°
  21. That's a noble pursuit. I put a snow stick out every winter. Some years it doesn't get much use, but it's always good to have. Twice I have seen a 36" stick completely covered: January 1978 in western Md. and February 2010 here. January 2016 fell about an inch shy before it compacted.
