It's a legitimate concern. But I don't know that it will favor the mid Atlantic either if cold air fails to materialize

Missed by a day
-
I think that's the winter forecast put out in December but who knows.
-
Potential for. I mean every winter month has potential for 15 inches. Seasonal forecasts called for potential for 30 to 40". It's not really a forecast
-
By who?
-
They kinda twisted what he actually said "I'm thinking there's still the potential for at least another 15 inches of snow around here," Nick forecasts. And we'll likely see even higher totals inland.
-
Yikes
-
Oh nevermind lol
-
Pretty sure 2009-10 was a lot higher
-
I saw the sun for 10 minutes so I guess that qualifies as partly
-
So we need a 1902 repeat to get close
-
Yes early Jan 18 had a coastal blizzard. Dec had a few events that year as well
-
I can't think of many recent winters where we had so little through Feb 15th and it turned around. 91-92 comes to mind but ended up well below average. 92-93 flipped early in the month, wound up close to average. 95 was one and done

Warm and rainy with little snow is basically the same thing even if the reasons why are different. Dec 97 was colder than this year and Jan 98 was warmer than this year so its evened out
-
Yes. We'll get one in the next 3 years though
-
This winter was always going to be a 97-98 repeat or a one off storm type year like 83 or 2016. So far minus the cold week in January it's behaving more like 98. That's why I'm not shocked or complaining and have no control over it anyway
-
its coming in 2 weeks
-
Which is weird because he and snowman thought February would be good too
-
I have no doubt it'll get cold again and we'll probably have a few opportunities but I'm not biting on anything until inside 72 hours. And nobody can predict if a great pattern will produce so snowfall forecasts are just hype
