Over 2.5” now. Decent rate coming down. Road is still ok.

Heaviest snow of the storm. 1.5” or so, but road is clear.

38/37 with showers. Granted I expect an 1-2” of slop when I wake up.
The satellite depiction shows two distinct pin wheels, one over the ocean and one in West Virginia. Too bad we couldn’t get a phased storm.

He usually posts in NYC forum but it’s not in there ., so not sure where he posted it. Walt is the guru at sniffing these big boys out. If someone has link, please post.
He’s been in the New York subforum for we in the interior/ex-burbs. I’ll look for it.

Flipped to all snow around 6:00 am. 1.5” down with snow continuing.

Wet flakes mixing in down in Chester. 750 asl.

Euro has been rather locked in compared to the GFS.

About 2.5” in Chester; there was a noticeable layer of ice on the bottom so I guess we lost some to sleet.

A nice peaceful snowfall occurring. 1/2” down on all surfaces.

Looks like a lake-effect band. Strange.

For the Metro Forum Which seems to continually get further and further south of New York City which other than Walt completely ignore the north it’s totally a nonevent. As Julian alluded to it still holds some interest for us but more and more limited the further south from 84 you go.
i’ve never quite understood why the New York City forum caters so much to the south and central jersey, Philadelphia and other regions south. There’s a Philadelphia Metro forum which encompasses south and central Jersey and there’s a separate mid Atlantic forum, yet the New York City forum seems to be more and more encompassing all of them.
I think it’s time for anywhere 40 miles north and north east of the city to be annexed by the New England forum. We certainly have a lot more in common with their weather than New York City, LI and the coastal plain and western Long Island. Northeastern Long Island and the northshore probably has more in common with the southern New England crew.
Just random thoughts on a mild foggy day where I’m losing much of what was a 7 1/2 inch snowpack a couple of days ago.
My area of north Jersey is not dissimilar; that’s why I am glad we have this sub-forum. Of course my weather is also vastly different from the 84 corridor on the borderline events.
But for NJ, I am 37 miles west/northwest of Manhattan. Elevation is 750’ asl. I use MMU for the most part, but they are lower in elevation.

Flipped to pingers at home in chester but down to 30/24.

All snow in Basking Ridge at the office. Came in like a wall. Best snow fall all season.

MMU about to kiss double digits on those maps. Hah.
Fun to look at but I’m not expecting that.
36/21 currently.

WSW up, but only because we are part of Morris County. 27 degrees now with sun.
Looking forward to tonight.

We have 40 here currently.
Zooming out on wunderground seems to show the cold push oriented from NW to SE at the NY/NJ border.
HRRT showing MMU at 7.5. Biggest event of the season if we can get 4”.

I-78 looks the battle zone. I’m 10 miles northwest.
Gotta smell the rain to thump the snow. So who knows.

-3 low in Sparta. Wind has died down nice, and I'm ready for a little warmup, although not to the extent of what's forecast.
I'm wondering what will become of the spring bloom, with things already popping through, and quite a ways to go yet until the official start of spring.
Too soon for any major effect on blooms/foliage.
If this happened at the end of February, early March I think we would have a more noticeable impact.

Visible sat shows almost a cleared out “eye”. Pretty cool. If only we had a decent HP in Quebec for this one.
