  1. I'm gonna go ahead and say this is the best snow experience I've had since moving to east TN in 1994.  Not necessarily the biggest flakes or heaviest convective bands but damn good.  I was here for Jan/Feb 96.  March 2022 was some of the hardest I've seen fall and possibly the most accumulation at my area.  But this long duration event is a thing of beauty.  I'm over the 6 inch mark currently and the scene outside is picture perfect dime ripping heavy snow with fatty radar returns on the way.  Best east TN storm for me.  Very very grateful.

  2. I was just thinking I cannot recall a storm IMBY that has snowed continuously for more than the Blizzard of 93 where I live. Where I live it snowed during the blizzard for about 16 hours. It started snowing here at 8PM roughly last night and if still snowing at 4 PM this will pass the longest duration snowfall for where I live.

  3. Congrats to everyone who scored. Glad a decided to take a nap this morning...all rain here.
Really sucks that you aren't getting it. Maybe you'll still score if the cold can make it to that side of the valley before all is said and done. Still hours of upstream precip. If that Storm prediction center mesoscale update holds true maybe forcing might help in your area to bring down temps.
  4. It’s been an odd snow here in Loudon County. We have a steady snow currently and probably got more in last 45 minutes than we did last night. However, nothing the sidewalks or roads. We are below freezing and have been since about 8 last night.

Yeah I suspect as the day goes along pavements will start to get covered. The ground temp is radiating through pavement keeping just a bit warmer, but suspect as time goes on and heavier snow moves in and temps stay below freezing those surfaces will start to freeze.

I’m in the yellow and we have flurries at best right now. Hoping something changes

Interesting I'm under the lighter stuff on your image on the northern edge of your image like heading toward Knoxville and it's snowing as hard as it did during the night last night and seems to be slowly picking up. I'll be at 2" probably within the hour. 1.75" of that occurred during the night. I wonder what your temp and dewpoint are where you are located.

  6. So far this morning have about 1.25in mostly on the grass with a crunchy ice and scattered snow cover layer on the roads and driveway.
Similar to me about 1.75" here on grass mostly. Though that blossoming band just reached me and right on queue it's picking back up after that pause during the night. I really think that is the reason models a few days ago had timing issues. Many models didn't start snow until this morning for East Tennessee, and interestingly this morning is when the primary heavier snow is set to begin and persist through the day. I look at the night time stuff as just bonus and the real deal is what we get today through tonight.
