I don't think the government is going to mandate vaccines because it is just not that clear cut legally and there will be a lot of pushback. They will work through businesses, just like they work through businesses to violate people's free speech rights and spy on US citizens already.

That’s fine that you don’t think so and maybe you’ll be right.

But it is very clear cut from a legal perspective. It doesn’t get anymore clear cut tbh. People can and will appeal to the SC but I don’t even know that they would take the case given that the legal precedent has been set…since 1905.

So... why isn't the state just mandating vaccines then? Why are they asking private businesses to do it? According to your post, it's plenty legal for the government to simply do it.

I think we both know that will immediately follow the full authorization in a couple of weeks. The Indiana S.C. ruled against students saying vaccine requirements were unconstitutional to attend college for context. I really don’t care either way- just saying the constitution is not on the side of the unvaccinated. America was never free (gasp).

No that is not fact. I just cited one study of Ptown and there’s a bunch of others that now show vaxxed spread equally or in some cases like Ptown was .. faster than the unvaxxed . My point is .. why do people care? We live in the USA and are free to make our own decisions. Or at least we were until January 17th

I almost didn’t take the bait but couldn’t resist. What USA do you speak of- it’s certainly not the country in which you currently live. Maybe brush up on a few things other than conspiracy theories, like Massachusetts case law for instance— via the Indiana Court of Appeals:

Yeah, they're really helpful in CS, too.  I called them and there was little hold time, and connected to competency - relatively savvy sounding level 1 support is probably all you'll need. Describe your symptoms vs needs, and that individual will probably ask you about gaming and station/port numbers in the household, etc... Y'all arrive at a model the best suits your need - I only went with the multi channel because at some point a spare bedroom ( was thinking...) would be converted to a nice home office, so I'd need access with lucidity from that area of the home...blah blah you get it.

Shipping time was like 4 days.  Problems solved -

So went with the Linksys AX3200 and then said f-it and got the Motorola MB8611 modem to go with it...goodbye Comcast hardware. Finally. Arrives Saturday- can't wait.

    LYNKSIS router -

I have a 4-channel broadband WIFI powerful enough that SETI could operate out of the home - ha!   I don't use 95% of the thing's capacity ...

Yeah, maybe a bit of an over -purchase, but LYNKSIS tech support was indicating pretty convincingly that the state of the art/direction isn't going the other way, anyway.  I was getting stalls and time outs with weather maps and satellite and porn (kidding).  Then, work started booting me off their server.  Database programming would hesitate too long compiling relatively non-taxing scripts. ...etc...

Internet speed test was like 10 mps  ... I'm thinking, whaaaaa    In 2020?

So, went on their website, figuring the near 15 year old router might be bottlenecking... and got this one for like 85 bucks... They start at 50 and go to 300 for multi- plex gaming and streaming throughout larger facilities, which I don't need.    Got it out of the package, jumped through an hour of config and securities language I did not understand, but once all was connecting, now I'm haulin at 400 to 500 mps!!   I've never gotten a hesitation while streaming NETFLIX shit since I got this, and weather satellite and mobile model loops rotate through their cinema without stalls on lap-tops.  General web use loads pages from the future ....

Thanks- will do this immediately...running a lot of data being at home and it's showing.

yeah, I seriously have been bugged for some time with thoughts about 'unplugging'

COMCAST is arrogantly got the world by the ballz - or think they do. Are they aware there are other options?

I just think their circuitry is unevolving and almost pure profit - I don't like orgs that just collect. The feckless nature of capitalism won't reduce prices in that state.  The infrastructure is/has been in place, for some time. They do nothing that isn't software related ...and only roll-out minor changes that are over marketed but do nothing to enhance or improve jack shit.  And infrequently to justify the average bill of 200 ( say ) $ per household, combined with untold business packages?  I mean spanning some 200 million entities -

They are a multi billion dollar gaping greed maw masquerading as a telecom service/organization and I would love to just stop throwing money into their throat.

Obviously I'm being hyperbolic in jest and complaint to some degree...

I have freinds that have cut ties.  They went to another means to get good web service into the home, and then rely on that to service news to entertainment.  Their lives - they've told me - were unchanged and nothing missed.  That's part of the 'big cable' delusion - they seem to benefit from a kind of abstract fear that people/orgs/society et al have that they will 'miss out.'     None of these cats miss games in sports. They know when bombs go off in cafes ... what celebrity o.d.ed, or stately figure or 'nobleman' got accused of rape, in the same space as anyone else.

And the key is, they spend like 10... 20% of the previous conglomerate dependency model is/was.  Jesus..why haven't I done this yet.

I moved to YouTubeTV which was great then the price went up and they lost NESN... so not as good of a deal.  But even cutting the cord- I still pay ComCast for their internet and their router- which I need to just buy one- any one got any good recommendations? I digress... a TV streaming option is cheaper by far with the same features. I would recommend it.

  7. Just getting caught up and man that CDC internal memo is a tough read. I thought we’d have bought some time before a variant has breakthrough capabilities but Delta seems very close and we’re letting it bounce around a partially vaccinated population. (for various reasons)

More convinced than ever we end up back at square one sooner rather than later.

  8. I know it’s only Covid here but — that tornado warned cell within that derecho in Wisconsin is moving right towards Oshkosh- where there’s like 25k people sleeping in trailers and their planes for the air show. So big yikes there.

LOL I'm just telling you what the feds can and can't do.

The announcement is going to say that the CDC recommends Vaxed people wear masks indoors in certain situations. What those situations are, who knows. Probably up to interpretation and most will ignore it.  But its not a mandate. It could be on federal property, but that's as far as they can go. Pesky 10th amendment and all.

Lol...I'm just saying, I assume some people will go bananas over this. But ya- I would think it'll be vague and toothless.

Feds cant mandate shyte on a state. They can recommend, but they cant mandate anything except on federal property.

We should prob fight a civil war over masks: states rights etc. let's do it.

As you can see there is no flat surface there to house or set the carriage of the AC unit.

Thats an edge along the bottom of that window.

So whatever gets installed it has to be some other kind of threaded through the aperture of the window without actually really contacting the window or something. Somehow.

I’d put it in right on top of that little lip, then close the window and cut a piece of wood to put between the top of the now half open window and the top of the interior window casing, so you can’t move the window up or down. It sits funny (downward slope) but it won’t go anywhere. I had a similar issue.

  12. For those asking…Yes, a local official in Jackson, Mississippi misstating numbers, and then correcting the record 8 hours later is evidence of a vast conspiracy propagated by the highest authorities within the U.S. government.

Same here. Had to run home to pump the pump in and get it down below the skimmer. What a summer!

I have an in-ground, and admittedly know nothing about them. do I need to pump it out if it is above the filter? i mean it is high but never really cared...or thought about it before

  14. I'm not saying anything about who is or isn't vaccinated.  It's just mind blowing to me that it falls along party affiliations- just an observation. I don't wish anyone to get sick and die. Again just commenting on how deeply held those beliefs seem to be- that they won't change unless they become personally impacted. Like everything else these days it's all very tribal. It's just interesting- that is all.

OKlahoma might want to get vaccinated

“We currently have as many COVID patients in the hospital as we did at the height of the pandemic," said Oklahoma state epidemiologist Justin Mitchell. "Unfortunately, we have a low rate of vaccination among our residents and these patients seem to be hit the hardest with the disease."

The ideological lines seem to have already been drawn. The below chart always blows my mind, and I've seen it even more granular on a county and congressional district level. The story doesn't change.

Chickens will come home to roost. I'm not sure the unvaxxed will rethink it until they actually get sick.

    1) I hate that even this post gives them more clicks and therefore revenue.  I contributed to telling them to write more of these articles by clicking on it.

    2) This is capitalism at it's finest.  Everything and anything to earn a dollar.  More clicks/$$$ for CNN and then a money grab by Pfizer.

It even says that "While protection against severe disease remained high" that "a decline in efficacy against symptomatic disease over time and the continued emergence of variants are expected."  "Pfizer and BioNTech believe that a third dose may be beneficial within 6 to 12 months following the second dose to maintain highest levels of protection."

Pfizer basically says that your chance of ending up in a hospital or dying (severe disease) is extremely low, but you may get the sniffles at some point.  If you want the highest levels of protection (this sounds like a sales pitch for a McAfee or Norton computer anti-virus software), we recommend upgrading to the Gold Package which includes a booster shot.  Capitalism at it's finest, selling you stuff you likely don't need with a solid PR campaign.

Strong agree- the government just issued a statement which basically read: not so fast you greasy scumbags. Either way, crap like this doesn’t do much to inspire the vaccine hesitant. Damage= done.

They won’t come back unless a big wave of people dying returns...which is unlikely in our region where like 80% of adults are vaxxed.

Kind of disagree semantically here. IMO, it’s much more about overwhelming the health system rather than deaths. I.e. can you get a hospital bed if you need one? Not necessarily if x number of people die. Once (IF) the system itself starts collapsing we will quickly reintroduce restrictions. The career risk for the political class becomes untenable at that point regardless of party affiliation. Test case might be Missouri in a week or two- the healthcare system is getting close to a tipping point there as I type.

I notice many more articles in the financial press about the delta variant .

It’s like not only does the fear mongering generate clicks (“it’s Covid on steroids says one expert” , “vaccinated people can still pass it on “  but it’s spooks a lot of older folks

Goldman released a note last night on the global economic impacts. They aren't great.  Rolling restrictions, continued supply chain disruptions etc...not a surprise to anyone paying attention. But that's what's generating today's headlines.

Letting this thing run rampant within a partially vaccinated population is just the sort of thing I would do if I wanted it to gain resistance to the vaccines currently deployed.  It is literally a matter of time imo.

Definitely a surge of summer colds right now. It passed through the summer camps here in MD over the last few weeks.

Ya same. 2 yr old had it for like 24 hrs but it's hitting the 4 yr old harder.  I am obviously paranoid it's not just a cold but don't want to traumatize the kid either with a nasal swab.  Not sure how knowing it was COVID would change anything anyways. Everyone I talk to says there is a nasty cold going around. We normalize.

  20. Trying to get caught up….so those that complained about mask mandates due to “infringement” on their personal freedom, are now complaining about business owners exercising their own personal freedoms and requiring masks to enter their stores? Ok ya- now I’m up to speed.

  21. Today is the anniversary of Operation Red Wings which led to Michael Murphy and his team’s death- documented in Lone Survivor. I would highly recommend that book to anyone looking for some summer reading. Sad day for that community.

  22. Noticed the lumber futures market moved into carry- I.e. pays you to store it. Doesn’t quite cover all carrying costs, but it’s moving in that direction. Should help some builders in here.
