I get it.  Dandelion and clover aren't for everyone.  But would it kill people to throw a small polinator garden into their landscape design?

That's a pretty happy median.  People keep their golf course but also help out the local polinators, which have a significant importance in our ecology.

We garden. Lots of bees around most  summer months.

I bought a weed puller at HD, works well for getting the whole root out, I yanked out about 100 of them in my lawn. I think I paid #30 for the tool. I just go around with my wheelbarrow, yank them out throw them in the wheelbarrow and dump the load in the woods.

Nice. I knew there were some tools for it. My yard is too big and I have got lazy dealing with them and have gave up hand pulling, its impossible. Will try that.

I'll never understand why dandelions are so despised.   They bloom for a week then they're gone.

Manually yank them out?  About the only non-chemical approach that's at least somewhat effective.

They are hard to yank out, got a pretty long tap root and if you don't get it all, it will come back. I always seem to just break the tap root root.

But yea, are far as lawn "weeds" go, they come and go pretty quick. They do self seed like crazy though, so if they do bother you and don't do anything, they will only increase every year.

Obviously we have a large dichotomy toward lawns care on here of full on natural approach like you, and other end of spectrum of full chemical.  I dont think either side will ever turn the other...lol.

I try hard as possible for a hybrid approach doing as much organic as I can, but still some spot treatment when needed and some fert.

Ha! They are such resourceful creatures that take path of least resistance, but that one is on you lol.  Broke into a friend’s jeep last summer for donuts, never leave your doors unlocked either.

There’s a mom and two cubs in my neighborhood that I haven’t seen yet but several neighbors have past couple days… the bears are alive.

Oh 100% on me. I normally have those bags sealed up airtight in a container.

I went out after I got the alarm from the cam and my neighbors dog was out and was literally nose to nose with bear barking, the bear then went flying up the tree prob 20-30ft. Pretty intense.

You can hear my neighbor in this vid..lol.

I bet in terms of qpf to snow this is a contender for #1 in some locales.
    30”-40” of dense is incredible.

Yea, this was a good swath of 30-40" totals, not just 1 or 2 one-offs.

1888 for sure basd on what we know i think for sure. Not sure of many other modern day storms? There are also alot more people reporting totals now, so pre social media and cocorahs there would be 1 or 2 random COOPs reporting for a large area sometimes.

  6. Had 7.8" with .46LE at 7pm.

28.0" total on 2.27" LE total. 34-36" OTG, most I have had personally OTG I think ever. Prob close to 30" total now I would think with good flakes still.

Def one of my favorite storms, paster makes it bit more unusual for here.

That area is sneaky awesome for big storms. They average a ton of snow anyway, but they can go for the stars on these easterly flow events.

The Woodford lady stopped this year reporting. Im pretty sure she is 90-95 yrs old, so those obs are gone....

They have snow envy . jk I dunno ..When you get several reports at similar elevation above 2k , just accept em and that it is a much different world there and that maybe it’s you didn’t go high enough on your grids there .

Lol, I know. I was talking more about getting the official record in the books. Obviously that needs to be done a certain way I guess.

Mitch just reported 35 but he had a dry slot for a few hours. That area near West Dover avoided it and probably has 40-45 right now.

Yea, 40" is legit I think. I guess we will see if anything can't pass the ALY sniff test...lol

You’re going to need a Coop to measure it, so there needs to be one in the most impacted area. And then you’ll need minimal compaction as most Coops only measure once in the morning.

But if they were diligent about it and measured without clearing they can reported their greatest depth of new snow, even if it compacts before 7 am.

Dec 2020 supposedly broke the 24hr I think right near here, but ALY tossed it, can't remember why. Prob not following what you said above.

Downsloping masterclass since 8am in Albany. Heavy echos overhead completely drying up. Only a few stray flakes making it down.

Need this easterly flow to switch

Prob sucking some subsidence exhaust too from that massive deform band to your west

Definitely more than 50. With the current storm total I have over 50” in the last 2-3 weeks. Pack is at 45” now. It’s definitely close to 70”. I’ve had two storms over 20” alone as well as several others that were warning

Ok, gotcha.  Didn't realize your were including this one on those numbers, then defintley over 50 since early Feb, agree.

I have to look for an accurate number but in the last month we’ve had about 70 inches of snow and the current pack is about 42 inches., Looks like we’ll pick up another 12 to 15 inches before this is done so we should have snow depth into the 50sLooks like we’ll pick up another 12 to 15 inches before this is done so we should have snow depth into the 50s

Prob not 70" in the last month, only a couple reports even near 50" since Feb 1 in the entire state of VT on Cocorahs.

Obviously retention is great there and is it has been a decently snowy stretch.
