Yeah western slopes already getting 40mph gusts well in advance of the strong LLJ.

Up this way this is a prime home station to watch, owned by a NWS member.  Gusted 39mph past half hour.  They come right off Bolton Valley area down to 800ft elevation.

Snowing outside in Stowe, maybe an inch?

Green Mountain Power crushes it down here.  Power was back in 2 hours even during peak winds last night.

Interestingly, only gusted to 29mph on roof mounted Davis after power went out. (peak was 39mph).  Probably had 10 windier downslopes events in the past 3-4 years. Seemed like peak winds were in the far western part of SVT more removed from the tucked in Western slopes. Almost off the Taconics it seemed or further downwind from the Greens Spine--at least down here.

didn't that season start with boxing day storm, iirc, melts were epic leading up to that too, far different scenarios yeah, but I hear ya, if it ain't cold and white for Christmas, it's a bummer...for us old enough it's a reminder of those 80s Christmas winters where it's 50 and raining, last good Christmas I can recall I think was early 2000s I remember thunder snow on Christmas, believe ALY area got crushed, maybe there's one more recent I can't recall...Will??

'17 snowed xmas day, more up here then down in your area of CT.  Was a little nuke though, 4"/hr early that morning.

It even has 54kts at MHT. We’ll see if it’s more wedgy as we get closer, but man that’s impressive.

Going to be an impressive downslope signal off the west side of the Greens. Mitch blown into The Hudson river.

Lol. BTV going all in on a big time wind event for the mtns and western slopes.  Its going to absolutely rip in my backyard, always does in these setup, and this looks pretty high end. Damage certainly in play here I feel like.

It’s amazing how that changes mood, perception, etc.  Quite a scene

For sure. Great day at Bromley with my kids over the weekend, and another snowy day out the window today. I'm at peace with that hideous cutter, is what it is.

We were just discussing this at my house. Every time It looked like a break was headed up from the south it would just fill in. My theory is the upslope component is so strong it fills in the gaps of the synoptic snow.

Im impressed your doing so well on the west slopes. I heard downtown Manchester was mainly rain!

Yeah your right, kept rebuilding when it looked to shut off.

Downtown  Manchester was rain to tart, but they had prob 6"ish when I was there around 4.

I thought you downslope from the east? That’s really good.

I do some, SE is worse than E and some events are different than others. Not that anyone cares, but I'm tucked in pretty close to the spine and the higher terrain, may negate some of the downsloping effect? I dont know, its weird. But I'm pushing prob 1.5" QPF, so not drying out too much..lol.

    Roughly where that pin is...

So far about 10” of pure cement at 1000’ west townshend SVT. Moderate snow continues, a few more inches here.

The big snow is over 2500’ with an estimated 20” at Stratton for last run. Snowed various levels of SN+ the entire day. Wouldn’t be surprised if 30 is in reach. Elevation and east slope upslope for the win.

30" up high prob is within reach. Haven't had a long duration event like this in a while it feels like.
