  1. I think that map is pretty decent in showing areas of greatest coverage. The 4fter you mentioned was all but wiped out though in late DEC. That is all "new" snowpack from like mid JAN on. The Glastenbury area down to Mitch is always last to melt out.
  2. I was down at HD this week to pick up some 1 x 6 x 6 non PT pine and almost passed out from price shock...like $16 or $17 -for a damn 6ft pine board.
  3. Haven't really been paying attention--has Mass been fully remote this whole year? My kids have been 4 days a week forever it seems like. From what they tell me its pretty much remote learning- esque, but in the classroom. Still just doing everything on their laptops, even in 1st and 3rd grade.
  4. Encroaching on all time March rat territory locally at Peru VT coop. Only .4" so far, going to need something to pop late month or this will be lowest March in 80 years of data. State record 24 hr snow in DEC and lowest March total ever possibly..some wild swings.
  5. Right, I mean it happened so it's going down to be built into the climo averages moving forward. I was more placating to Phin because he keeps trying to erase that storm from the season averages . Even without that DEC storm, I enjoyed this winter locally in the valley-- no windy events/no cutters--it just stacked up all nicely most of the winter Sapporo style like you mentioned I think a time or two.
  6. If you wipe away the mid DEC storm, I would be right around average, maybe a smidge lower. Considering that entire storm got wiped out by the grinch, retention was still pretty impressive for these parts.
  7. Weenie snotel station out in WY had 52.5" at 8am.
  8. Hey, some snow in March.... and now sun's back out. Ha. March snoozer down this way.
  9. Follow up at 7am..looks like around 10" in this spot, maybe little less. Lots of bare yards around town and others with patches. I'm all for some more snow events, but no use for a 10" glacier.
  10. Yea, totally different animal. Had 1"+ of rain and dews near 50 or higher with howling winds in the grinch-- and much less liquid equivalent in the snowpack than now.
  11. Certainly wasn't any snow to melt in Bennington, mostly gone for a little while now. Dipped back down to 56/57 here. Right, those dense evergreens also help with those below 80F summer time highs. But also come with a side dish of mutant black/deer/horse flies..lol
  12. Bennington VT up to 71F...what a torch. 63 here.
  13. Full sun spots at 12.5" at noon at 64F. Will see how much is left at 7am tomorrow. Shady spots are 16-17" -ish.
  14. What a furnace....wow. 60s and sun. T-shirt weather for sure.
  15. Lost a total of 2-2.5" inches the past 2 days of snowpack. Actually get a lot of sun in half my yard this time of year, but its totally flat and gently slopes north, so not a ton of loss even with 7 hours of sun. South facing hills taking a beating though around here and in town locations also melting out-- almost nothing left. Snowpack beat down comes today though with mid 40's dews and sun and warmer temps. Kids had their Junior Ski program through school at Bromley yesterday afternoon, definitely springs like conditions with Bromley's southern exposure and lots of sun. Pretty much everything was soft by afternoon. I'm good with melting out my yard at this point and keeping some snow up high and then hopefully we get one or two more bigger events mid-late month.
  16. Think your right for the most part. 17'-18' was actually top 3-5 all time in SVT (snowfall wise) in the mountains and #1 in the valley. I don't think it was on that level down by your area though? Most other years probably closer to average with an all time rat in 15-16 by a good margin.
  17. Get your advisory events while you can... .. Not sure if this was posted already somewhere. National Weather Service set to drop advisories by 2024 - The Washington Post
  18. Guess there were some higher gusts than I thought on the other side of town.
  19. Wow, that's a solid pickup from squalls--nice. Nothing here but a dusting. NW winds just don't do much here, feel like MAYBE gusted to 40. Had no problem sleeping.
  20. Nasty looking band rotating through N NY
  21. Well, it really is completely different microclimate than most of VT. Not that this is breaking news. You could get a string of late blooming Millers B's that leave most of the VT posters with a few inches of sand or cirrus. Some years, the wealth is spread more evenly, this year little different obviously.
  22. By a long shot. I made a totally innocuous post couple years ago to someone who was moving to VT (or getting a second house maybe) with some general info on climo and a link that I thought would help and someone posted right after "don't get why people from different regions are still coming in posting". Something along those lines. I certainly wasn't popping in to rub in some big snow dump.
  23. He did give it an A+ in the other thread. But yea, even at this point with 120" that would be an all time best for like 95% of this forum.
