And many places all around Charlotte area recorded over a foot yesterday! All timer storm. Snowed champagne powder all day long, truly utah like snow just dumping for many hours.
Well over 5" in many spots, some already double digits. Probably have 7-8 inches.
Officially the airport has already surpassed 6 or 7 inches and still coming down hard.
Biggest snowfall in over 20 years
January 21-23, 2022: A massive system brought measurable snow to almost every corner of the state, including the typically snow-free southeastern coast.
December 25-26, 2010: A historic "White Christmas" event where all 100 counties reported snowfall, with a foot or more in several regions.
Nearly two feet in Raliegh is not realistic but it's promising to see on the map.
26 years ago Raleigh got 20 inches and that was the all-time record for single storm. Even a foot will shutdown the city for a week.
NWS always plays it conservative here because most of the time it is true ..."snow likely" is as bullish as you can get this far out
GSP added a snow may be heavy at times for the forecast here
Charlotte has a much bigger population than Raleigh, not sure why Raliegh/RDU area is over represented on this forum.
Think Charlotte area is going to have it quite a bit worse after this is all said and done due to where Raliegh area sits and the way the front is coming across
