  1. And many places all around Charlotte area recorded over a foot yesterday! All timer storm. Snowed champagne powder all day long, truly utah like snow just dumping for many hours.
  2. It's an hours old pic fwiw at this point and it dumped snow for a few hours after it
  3. You scored big, probably pushing 10-11 inches on the lake here and still coming down but not that. You win for the Charlotte area
  4. Well over 5" in many spots, some already double digits. Probably have 7-8 inches. Officially the airport has already surpassed 6 or 7 inches and still coming down hard. Biggest snowfall in over 20 years
  5. And to be clear it's still snowing HARD in the Charlotte region It's been snowing at least an inch per hour here for hours
  6. Coming down absolutely dumping in Lake Wylie area of Charlotte. 5 inches so far and has to be coming down an inch per hour right now.
  7. Here at Lake Wylie it is absolutely dumping, think close to or over 4 inches already
  8. It's about time! Likely biggest snowstorm in 20+ years on the way for Charlotte it looks like
  9. January 21-23, 2022: A massive system brought measurable snow to almost every corner of the state, including the typically snow-free southeastern coast. December 25-26, 2010: A historic "White Christmas" event where all 100 counties reported snowfall, with a foot or more in several regions.
  10. We are about 15 hours until go time but doubt much changes besides where the sweet spots will be and deform bands / dry spots happen
  11. Nearly two feet in Raliegh is not realistic but it's promising to see on the map. 26 years ago Raleigh got 20 inches and that was the all-time record for single storm. Even a foot will shutdown the city for a week.
  12. NWS always plays it conservative here because most of the time it is true ..."snow likely" is as bullish as you can get this far out GSP added a snow may be heavy at times for the forecast here
  13. Wrong. Already telling everyone 6 inches is on the way here next weekend
  14. Live on Lake Wylie myself in Belmont, but good to see someone else on this forum there
  15. TBD. I think the worst is to come with the moisture and warm nose that is still to come.
  16. Wrong. Charlotte metro population is 2.9 million. RDU metro population doesn't come close to that (1.5 million).
  17. The warm nose on this storm has to be historical. For Charlotte to be at 18 degrees this morning and top of Mt. Mitchell at 40 is very wild.
  18. Charlotte has a much bigger population than Raleigh, not sure why Raliegh/RDU area is over represented on this forum. Think Charlotte area is going to have it quite a bit worse after this is all said and done due to where Raliegh area sits and the way the front is coming across
  19. Talkeweather has a 259 page thread on it with over 5000 posts if anyone wants to in follow it more closely
  20. This suforum covers those states literally right at the top it says Southeastern States Covering Southern VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, and MS.
  21. pretty wild watching this move across the US
  22. Snowing quite well all over Charlotte metro. Coming down very steady and accumulating in uptown Charlotte.
