0.8". Initial storm has passed east but looks like maybe round 2 developing just to the west.

I was out crabbing and watched that complex build from a little puff around 9:30 on the other side of the bay. That puff built into a beautiful complex of towering thunderstorm over several hours. It was really interesting to watch it develop. I feel like it was a boundary left over from the overnight storms.

Storms incoming from my west look like they may be drying up and reform east. Corn dust doing its due diligence.

I'm right in line with the storm headed across northern DC. I'm going to take a short hike. I'm hoping for that distant thunder, summer woods vibe.

  3. Weren't we susposed to have interesting weather today? I thought today was going to be a thunderstorm day. Looks like HRRR brings in some storms later on. I wouldn't mind some thunder.

  4. Another cloudy damp morning. I don't remember ever going this long without a sunny day. It's been sunny twice this month. Does anyone know when this damp shitty pattern is going to break?

  5. Headed out crabbing this morning. I got up at 4:30 and heard water running through the gutters. There's nothing on radar. It's just a steady drizzle. I was hoping for a beautiful sunrise. Now I'm hoping for jumbo crabs. Screw the sunrise lol

Yup, moderate to heavy steady rain.  Perfect weather for a motorcycle ride.

Looks like it will be mostly out of here in about an hour. Most of the day might be dry.

    Sounds perfect!

Yay. The same weather we've had since November lol. I'm ready for scorched earth, death ray heat. Anything but 50 and cloudy. I'm so over it.

  8. I'm surprised how active it was overnight. I had a nice storm around mid night, than another area of heavy rain moved in this morning. I haven't looked yet to see how much rain fell.

Feels like this spring we’re either wedged in with cool cloudy easterly flow or completely torched. Not much in between.

I was just saying the same thing. It's our two base states fighting for control. 50 and cloudy for 6 months is fighting with 90 and dry for 6 months. Looks like only .03 last night.

10 days into May tomorrow and we're looking at highs in the 50s.  YUCK

May is shaping up to be a dreary boring dud. Oh look.. another cloudy damp morning. Shocker

Radar is looking kinda meh. Might have needed more in the way of afternoon sun and a further north vort track.

I was just going to say my comment didn't age well lol

Thundering big time here, just waiting on the rain.

Damn! Radar to the SW Central MD is lighting up. Could we be in for a good ole fashion stormy night. It definitely feels juicy out there. My garden plants are loving this.

Don't forget the mushrooms. For pictures I mean. B)

I found a huge fallen oak tree that had chicken of the woods all over it. It was beautiful stuff.

Feels much warmer and more humid than it did this morning. Temps is 67

A few light sprinkles this morning. Mostly an annoyance and doing nothing for the dry conditions.

0.44" for the 'event' so far. Just enough to dampen the top eighth inch of soil. Powdery dry under that.

Definitely mushrooms! But I'm thinking it hasn't been wet long enough to find any. Well see. I lucked out here. The thunderstorm I got early Saturday morning really soaked the ground. I'm back to my normal swampy conditions. Other then that thunderstorm it's been sprinkles and drizzle and I'd be watering.

  15. Classic dreary day. I'm planning on rolling a couple joints and taking a 7 mile hike. I'm going to take pictures of moss. Yes.. I'm going to smoke pot in the woods and take pictures of trees and moss. Today's weather is perfect for it. Looks like another round of steady light rain developing in VA.

    .03" drenching.  Typical.

Looks like some more nice heavy showers building to your SW. They'll be missing you of course, but headed here to add to the inch I got overnight lol

Just had a heavy downpour here. Picked up a quick tenth of an inch. Pretty surprised to see anything this morning as most guidance had any shower activity dissipating as it moved eastward into the HP. It is actually weakening and breaking apart but managed to get underneath a heavier cell. Most rain I have seen in weeks.

If I had to guess, probably close to an inch here to your west. It was definitely needed.

Rainfall generally looks pretty meager here across guidance through the weekend. I'll probably do a significant watering tomorrow morning in anticipation. Soil is super dry now.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'll do a deep watering and feeding to my cannabis and early tomato plants.

La Plata tornado was April 28, 2002. Analogs are showing up around 4/25 so it's not a "perfect" match - and I did look at the H5 maps - it was a MUCH sharper vort pass

The day after it hit I explored the damage path where it crossed route 3. I met this poor girl and her dad. She had this blank stare that I'll never forget. Her dad said she was working at the Taco Bell. Their was nothing left of it except a wall and some benches that were bolted to the foundation. It cross Route 3 and tore up chunks of the highway. I saw a lot of unbelievable things. I was very humbled by what I saw.
