  1. Some photos from the Adirondack high peaks region. If I hadn't seen the way the moments entering into totality and emerging from it were like throwing a light switch, I wouldn't have understood it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/C3s51MsN7tygGgs9A
  2. Adirondacks, a few miles south of Lake Placid
  3. Ready! https://photos.app.goo.gl/uVwL5YsqvFpyJwLB7
  4. Damn, I'm upstate and missed it. My wife said the house shook violently for 10 seconds.

  6. The die is cast. It's sink or swim for me at Heart Lake. It's not the max 4 minutes of totality, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Got my cellphone camera ready to go
  7. Last nights downpour was 0.04" here.
  8. 10.71" precipitation in North Smithtown for March. This is our wettest month, eclipsing the 10.23" from this December. Kind of a wet winter (6.49" in January, a dry-ish 2.43" in February). 12 month rainfall (4/1/23 - 3/31/24) is 61.79" ! Note: I've only been tracking rainfall here since 1/1/2013
  9. Any advice for hairy bittercress, which is already running amok?
  10. Without doing any actual digging, it looks like snowfall is weighted more heavily than cold in the right column.
  11. We had almost 70" in both 13-14 and 14-15, which is right in line with your experience. Then 2016 was more than just the one late January blizzard here. Seems like it's the lame winters that cement your better averages, although this is about as small a sample size as one can conjur up.
  12. I didn't realize you got shafted that bad in 2016. That year really stands out
  13. 25" or 26" of snow here is a lame (but not disastrous) winter. Spinning low teens snowfall with almost no cold air into something somehow acceptable is irrational exuberance.
  14. Low temperature here was 16.7⁰. Snow depth =6”
