smokeybandit
Another good day for my general area, but man my house is rain repellant. Flash floods to my west, heavy rain to my north and east, and heavy rain to my southwest headed my way, but drying up 2 miles down the road. frontranger8
Got smacked yesterday evening with a direct hit from a storm that was severe warned shortly after. Thankfully not much hail, but a 30 minute deluge that dropped .57". Great way to end the month.
finnster Posted yesterday at 06:30 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:30 PM As many of us are in this region, this year Fort Collins will be flirting with recording the driest year in recorded history (which is 7.34"). Currently we sit at 5.97" for the year. It seems we start getting some decent monsoon moisture and then the door gets slammed shut again. Supposedly El Nino conditions are forecast this fall but I'm not holding my breath that it will make any difference in alleviating the drought. One can hope tho.... mayjawintastawm Posted yesterday at 06:37 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 06:37 PM At my house near Centennial Airport we've received 5.05" YTD. DEN is a bit better at 5.65". Record driest year is 7.48" in 2002. I'm guessing we won't quite end up that dry, but it will be close. Good shot at top 10 driest, anyway. ValpoVike Posted yesterday at 07:35 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:35 PM Wow, and I thought that it was dry'ish up here... I am at 9.19" YTD. Even then, I know that the big snow dump we had in May overwhelmed my Davis' precipitation hopper as the total from that event came in pretty light. I think perhaps around 10" YTD is more accurate. Wow I didn't realize Denver is actually lower than Fort Collins - usually it's wetter. It doesn't really matter though, it's just dry everywhere. We have friends in Wyoming and its super dry there too. It seems we ought to be able to get enough the rest of this year do not break our record, but you have to factor in that average precip for the remaining months of the year get less and less...' Was just about to post...what a difference a day makes. Yesterday at this time we were at 98. Today, 68. So refreshing. Too bad there's so much smoke around.
